Ruf CTR VS Bugatti Veyron
Discussion
Firstly, sor sorry for the shit quality, but these are merely taster videos, on the day there were dozens of cameras from a proper production company. Check out www.revlovers.com for the films which should be released sooon.
Ok so we had two races over about 500m, starting in 2nd gear at 50kmh or so. Both times i went first with a one second jump on the beast.
Results are incredible

Shock and awe I think just about sums it up - but it's not a McL F1 is it.
Oh no, it certainly isn't.
It is soooooo much quicker than a Mac
It leaves me cold. Except when I stood directly behind one at Goodwood.
If you've experienced the noise of a McL F1 at full chat, you'll know what I mean.

Maybe the yellowbird was feeling a little poorly that day.

Having driven a Veyron I really don't know of another road car that can stay with this thing in a straight line or around the twisty bits. A mate of mine has a Veyron on order for March 2007 and I was lucky enough to go to Molsheim with him to visit the factory along with two other chaps and our respective other halves.
Now since I've known him he has owned a Maca F1 road car, the TWR XJ220, a Zonda C12S, 996 GT2 580 bhp, F40 converted to GTE spec, F40LM, and currently has an Enzo and a Maca F1 GTR converted to a road car (well sort of) He got to drive the Veyron in the UK for a couple of hours but decided to go to the factory and drive one again just to see if it really was as good as he thought it was. Now his words not mine "it's fu**ing even better than I thought it was" As I have said elsewhere on pistonheads I have never driven a car that is so completely competent in everything that it does. My missus could drive this and not kill herself in it. If I had the wedge I would place an order tomorrow. If the Murcielago and Diablo is a supercar, the Enzo is a super super car then the Veyron is a super super super car as it really is entirely in a league of its own.

Yeah I read about your experience, thanks for posting that up.
But other than the cars obvious performance attributes where is its soul? All the cars you mentioned above have a soul, I just don't see that with the Veyron. It's a technological marvel of that there is no doubt but if I wanted to match the Veyron's performance I could buy an Ultima GTR and put a bit more oomph in it. If I wanted a performance GT car in the mould of a Veyron I could buy a 599 GTB and have a lot of change left over.
If I wanted to buy the most exciting performance car of all time I could buy a McLaren F1.
Does your friend think the car will be a keeper?

Sorry but that is utter piffle..what's this 'soul' business? Why's a F1 got 'soul' but a Veyron not? If I could afford a Veyron why would I look at an Ultima? Ferrari 559? just buy one as well! F1? The lucky sod's already had two!
