993 gt2 - seems to be sticking around at dealer

Hi, seen a black 993 gt2 (RHD) for sale at
Sean Lockyear in Yorks, up for £118,995.

Looks beautiful, and value(not that i can afford it)
at this price compared to other rhd examples recently sold

Any ideas why its hanging around? Looks like
the one Camtune had last year. Does this car
have some stories to tell?

was the shell it was reshelled in to of the same spec as the original? Was it a new Porsche shell or one off a broken car?

No one i ve met ,including the main agent who is said to have ordered it ,can show if its a 993 tt shell , seam welded or what...........highly unlikly to be the real thing ................its a lovely looking car beware!
Go buy JC s its also black,an EVO one of only 21 and nigh on perfect

This cars early history is fairly common knowladge I did a lot of reacerch on this car when it was at Camtune I spoke to Peter Lovett who was exceptionaly open and helpfull a great enthusiast and the supplying OPC.He confirmed its early history,and that he picked it up in germany ran it himself and sold it to a customer who later stacked it badly. As it was a heavy shunt it was re-shelled at Swindon with a new factory shell and that punter later sold the car on. Significantly Dick lovett OPC sold it twice after the re-shell with an OPC warentee so the re schell is on the books with all the right paperwork.
The strange thing about this car is not that it was re shelled but that it was bought by the OPC in Gurnsey(Five Oaks?) and repainted Black(it was born Midnight blue)to match his 993RS it also had a lot of recepts from Cargraphic in germany for things like a sports exhaust etc..
Its very well known for what it is and is a lovely looking car featured in a lot of mags to work out its long term value look at the 3 or 4 1973 2.7RS,s that were re shelled in period with the correct paper trail and make your mind up.
As the GT2 boys know a car is worth what you can get someone to pay for it

Hi Vic according to Peter Lovett it was a new GT2 shell he was very specific about that and that it was subsequently sold with a full OPC warrenty. Do you know somthing about the shell that we dont Vic??

Fair enough - if it's got the paperwork to back up the correct shell being used I wouldn't have a problem buying it (at a heavily discounted rate)

Reckon he'd swap it for my RS???

Legend has it, the car was re-shelled using one from a TT........legend, hype, even absolute b.s. maybe?......If the paper trail correctly states GT2 shell as you say, then that would obviously be preferable.

Legend is a funny old thing I have no interest in the car but would recomend anyone who wants to buy it have a chat with Peter Lovett he was very upfront when I made my enquiry about the car. At the money it is up at its not economical to turn it back to blue but with values going up as they are who knows what will happen in the future the fact this car is so well known means unlike others that have had quiet mishaps, you know what it is the question for me was whats it worth?

It's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it & at the moment that doesn't seem to be alot.

Re-shelled, re-painted, wrong chairs, been for sale with three dealers + now and still not sold despite a 'good' price for RHD and been for sale for an eternity.

Looks like it's harder to shift than chlamydia. A proper car would be long gone...

I think thats a little harsh though I take your point on the seats when i looked at it 2 years ago it had the original seats(dont know why they are not there they looked in good nick) i know it has sold at least once since then.
re chlamydia if you can spell it you have had it and antibiotics are prity good these days John.
I must say I have noticed a certan trend that you GT2 boys talk down any car for sale that is not one of yours maby when replying to posts we should have a declared interests register?
