996 GT2 prices go the same way as 993 or will they go the same as 996 TT?

scratchchin

and whilst we're about it, are all the 996 GT2's lovingly tucked up in the garage or are they being driven?

Apparently they are all backwards in hedges, especially this time of year

As to going the same way as the 993 GT2, personally I wouldn't bet on it.

mine gets driven every day - about 1500 miles/month .....

prices -who knows, but these are very rare (increasingly so) and special cars (much more so than the 996tt) so perosnally I see values staying pretty good.....

Yeah I reckon they may tread water, but I can't seem them going up to 130k anytime soon. If it's what you want from a car I don't see much point in waiting any longer. Just going to get harder to find one that's straight.

Ballast - thanks.

Norfolk 'n chance.....993Gt2 was developed to race....996 is a 2wd turbo with more power than standard.
If you look at previous Porsche cars that are worth real money today, the direct motorsport link seems to be the decisive factor.

I suspect the 996's will find a fairly static level at around 50k. cant see them having a value similar to a 993 maily because the numbers of cars built

With such limited numbers in the UK (and the fact the press slagged them off as being "neither fish nor fowl" ) they have all the makings of a latterday 964 RS.

Best keep them wrapped up in cotton wool for the next 5 years rolleyes , then watch them rise in value as everyone realises they're the last un-fettered rear drive turbo car Porsche made without any electronic driver aids.

P.S My buttocks are firming up nicely with all the clenching they've been doing recently (the car did a wonderful impression of a rudderless boat on the M42 last night yikes then minutes later the rears lit up and tried to catch up with the fronts) A new set of tyres required PDQ methinks...................

couldnt give a stuff what they will be worth; just great to drive it. Have been driving it in all weathers;just a soft right foot. Shopping, blasts, lifts, and anything really to get it out of the garage and a good antidote to relentless work & domestic life.

Can I just ask as a slight aside. How do you 996GT2 owners get on with the standard carbon brakes. Assuming you are using the cars for road work and occasional track days. I know there is/was much moaning from the GT3 guys about these brakes not being suiable for extended track work.

You are of course totally correct, they're all fitted with Porsches old style SRF (sensitive right foot) traction control system !

Ceramic brakes ? best not go there...................

I've read lots of adverse comments (I know Slippydiff was far from happy), but personally I think they're great.

Much better than my Turbo; much better feel to them. I was never convinced that my Turbo brakes were ever going to stop me! yikes

They do squeal/squeak a bit, but then so does the whole car, so I'm not too worried.

I've had some major tankslapper episodes in my 997C2S with the recent rain (too many big roundabouts and a temptation to turn the PSM off so anyone driving a GT2 through the winter gets my major respect. thumbup

Keep up the good work!

I've been driving mine but not as a daily driver. Still, i have clocked up s fair few miles since i have had her, mostly in these horrid wet cold conditions. The sensitive right foot works very well and i find it is aided by the aftermarket porsche wooden block

I can't see the residuals dipping much below 50k but i also don't see them rising significantly. There are not that many about and good ones will become more rare so who knows?
