Boxster lastest accessory - mice!
Discussion
the car has now done 1,000 miles and I've discovered that it appears to be infested with MICE?
al i hear as i drive along is squeak squeak. whenever i try to find the damn rodents i can't seem to locate them.
anyone got any ideas where they are coming from and how I get rid of them? They're driving the missus mad!

Outrageous, isn't it? I had the same problem on my 996 which I bought from new.
I could forgive squeaks in my previous (13 year old) 911 but not a new one. I'm not a big fan of Porsche interior build quality, as you can tell.
It took me 3 visits to the dealer to sort out 5 rattles in the first 5000 miles. It's usually a case of driving on a deserted and bumpy stretch of road, and placing a firm hand on door trim/ the passenger seat/ dashboard/ vents/ sunroof/ anything else which has attached trim or moving parts, until you locate the source of the noise.
I found particular problems when the car had been parked in hot weather - presumably something had expanded which made the noises worse. The dealer's attitude was "It's the hot weather - you can't do much about it" which is unacceptable frankly.
One of my squeaks was solved by me WD40'ing the hinge on the front passenger seat - unbelievable that the dealer couldn't work out something that simple.
Good luck - take a passenger with you, especially if the squeaks are coming from the other side of the car.

Same in my 996 cab (bought from new) and our SL500 (bought from new too)
And it was the same in my previous Boxster S (bought from new as well).
Conclusion: All cabs do it, which is normal as the structure is less rigid. Ususally the noise comes from the roof structure. You just have to live with it. It only happens on rough roads though.
Fanch.
PS: If that can make you feel better, it's worse in the SL (heavier metal folding roof)
