Porsches On top gear..Sunday
Discussion
Ive said it once and Ill say it again....
JC is an utter w*nker....
He knows all about cars...
He's a truly shit driver...
And I know for a fact he has little integrity.
Just because hes got his own ( and it is his own) 1 hour propoganda show every sunday night, does not make him some sort of car guru. And it really pisses me off how some PHers (esp TVR owners) seem to revere him.
BTW
If he is such a petrolhead, why does he never do or talk about trackdays??

Let me elaborate on that slightly.
I have in the past driven at Combe, Brands and Donington, and done rally driving a couple of times also at Brands. I did this for the experience, but it wasn't especially interesting enough to warrant huge amounts of wear and tear on the car on an onging basis. I have not run the C4 at 170mph, nor do I particularly care to. I have a Land Rover but I haven't crossed the Sahara in it. There is no law against using full throttle, and it is possible to use a reasonable amount of performance on the road in a safe and responsible manner. My driving record is >460K miles and NO ACCIDENTS, so don't ever presume to preach to me about road safety. Don't make assumptions about what other people do. The fact is that even in a one make owners club such as the TVRCC, only a single digit percentage want to drive any track days, and most only do one or two. Just because you chose to drive trackdays does not mean that the majority of car enthusiasts do, and nor does it diminish their enthusiasm. It might just mean they have other ways to spend their time and money. I take four foreign holidays a year, odd extra days off are out of the question anyway.

using full throttle is not what I would describe as using the full performance of your car. In fact it is not so in the slightest.
Though I respect the fact that you have done so many miles without any accidents, so have I, and so have many grey heaired old rover drivers too. That doesn't make me respect their opinion on driving...which was what this comment stemmed from anyway (JC not having done any track days)
My comment on whether you use the full potential of your car or not on the road was aiming at the handling aspects of your car on the limit. (ive done 100+ track days and never taken a car above 135)
and was not in any way an insult to you.
Unlike your comment to me.
Doing track days wont necessarily wear your car out either. Driving smoothly and braking progressively can save on tyres and pads/ discs. I only need to change my pads / tyres every 10 track days or so.
I think it is a shame that if you have a performance car, you don't use it to the full. Especially a 911.
Quite frankly the same goes for Off- roaders too.
Finally if only one percent of TVR owners do track days then not only would I be surprised, but probably would never bother buying one because it would infer that they are too weak to drive hard.
Go to any RMA at Bedford autodrome. Out of 120 cars 60 of them are porsches. I am a member of the PCGB and I know quite a few members.
At least 25% of all members do 3 or 4 track days a year.

Well, I've just binned the **** you comment. There's no place for personal abuse on this forum.
I've left the topic open as I think the trackday debate is interesting... are they really the place to exploit the performance of your car (overcook it and someone could collect you)... are they really any safer than the public roads (who drives to sainsbury's at ten tenths?)... do they make you more of a fast car enthusiast or are they an irrelevance in the real world of potholes and crap camber?
Also, please note that slagging off - directly or indirectly) certain groups, including gay hairdressers, the JC fanclub and the TVR 'I've got a warranty and am happy to use it' crew, is always likely to stimulate an argument. This will be seen as deliberate provocation unless smileys are liberally applied, and the thought police will swoop.
Please discuss things maturely and avoid personal insults at all times.
Thank you kindly and may your S02s never wear.
