Nice to know that you finally solved the problem. It's so frustrating to think that the only solution is to sell.
Dom's coffee's not that bad as I always drink Andy's tea wink.
I am seriously considering a set of the Movit Ceramic Brakes for next year. If they work as they are supposed to they should be fantastic. The standard Porsche set up with standard pads struggles to cope with the balistic acceleration. I do not want to change the pads and then live with the squeal that follows. The 380mm conversion is another possibility but then you cannot ever refit the standard wheels whilst they are fitted.

Wow, that sounded painful but joy at the end. I am about to buy the car so it's REALLY nice to know that someone had the patience to set the car up correctly ! I was wandering what the discs are as they are not the 2 piece floating type.

Probably neither hear nor there now. Been a long time. The adjustment tubes need regular lube as they corrode over time and the springs settle over time.

1/2 way through reading that post, three words came into my head..."Centre of Gravity"

Sounds like you've had a torrid and expensive time glad it's all sorted...

..I thought i would chip in here [OP]..a thorough write up indeed..

Firstly.. I am totally unbiased.. (altho' Fearnsport look after my car for me..!)

To say the geo was rechecked somewhere else and found to be 'out', is a little misleading.. as on the lazer rigs that go red or green on a 7 minute of arc tolerance, which is so so small, on a 10 yr old car with metalastic bushes all round.. It's quite likely that if you geo'd it , drove it round the car park and did it again it would be red or 'out' as you put it.. trying to hold a stable geo by changing the bushes on rotation is the way to go, and would have contributed to the geo stabilty.. you got what you wanted in the end, by a bit of trial and error.

Because the geo is infinately variable, it's critical to tell the guys doing it EXACTLY what you want, or they will do their own interpretation.. ie, to reduce understeer, they may chose to go for a parallel front end or maybe a trace of toe out.. but this takes some hanging onto for road work, and kills your tyres, I've tried it ..!, but it does work on the track..
So it is a bit of a black art.. trial and error for a company to get a list of settings for different occasions and customers needs..

Secondly, I am going to use this platform to tell what 'out' really is... example 1 to reduce the track understeer on my M3, company 'A' (which some people reading this will know) gave me back a track geo to help with the problem... a toe out rear end FFS.. did it reduce understeer well yes, in an alarming and not altogether unpredictable way.. it let go on the back end on most corners under braking, in a way that you would expect a pallet truck to handle, only a bit of a worry when coming down from 130mph to a chicane.. !! wink a few minutes of arc is one thing, getting it + instead of - is more of a worry..!

Strange fioran0, I normally find your posts informative and thus worthwhile reading. Perhaps you've had a bad day at the office ? Irrespective, if you have no wish to read what was written THREE years ago readit don't . . . . ! !

As far as I'm concerned it's all history, but in the process of sorting out the cars issues I garnered a lot of information on the subtle nuances of Porsche GT car suspension set up (and ceramic brakes !!) but I also found and had dealings with some incredibly helpful and knowlegeable people, those include the lads at Fearnsport, Mike at Sports and Classic and Chris at CG.

And to close this subject . . . .

slippy,

i was just poking fun, mostly due to the fact that this didnt seem like a usual post for you, at which point i realised it was a finely aged piece which had been maturing on the board for a few years and it had clearly been a cathartic piece at that time smile
with retrospect some sort of cheeky grin icon at the end may have been worth adding.

as for the a$$holes find.... nicely done. i gave me a huge chuckle that im still sporadically laughing at.

i like it here alot smile

If nothing else it's a minefield excellent source of "interesting" characters and useful information !

Anyway, irrespective of the trials and tribulations with my last GT2 it always felt like I had unfinished business with the model. So much so that I really felt it was time to scratch the itch again . . . .

Seconds out round two biggrin

Andrew,

My comments regarding my previous car were made over three years ago tumbleweed . . . . smile

I subsequently sold that car over two and a half years ago . . . . (which seems a reasonable amount of time for the itch to subside, seemingly the itch hasn't gone away, hence the latest addition ! !)

being all about NA the finer points of the forced induction models are usually missed by me (save for my secret liking of the 997.1 GT2 but dont tell anyone) but im liking yours alot.
all in if thats where you ended up then perhaps it wasnt a bad thing that your previous one bummed you out wink

now on to more serious matters........
how the eff is that everyone can take photos of their cars and they look good and mine just look crapper than crap. any attempt ive made ends up worse than an autotrader snap.
