You could specify a 430 or 450 bhp power level and there were some cosmetic changes to the chin, 'melted cheese' whale tail and flanks but I'm not sure if these were additional to or included in either option.

It was retro-fittable too.

Depends what 911 series you are referring to.

Current 996 series a Turbo S has not been launched. A minority of journalists have made the mistake of referring to the 996 turbo with the X50 power upgrade as a Turbo S. Porsche themselves have never designiated the vehicle with this name.

The 993 series had a Turbo S version launched towards the end of 993 production. Visually it has a biplane rear spoiler, yellow brake calipers and came without rear seats, but most importantly it had more power with 450bhp on tap.

I think the 964 series had a turbo S which came with 380bhp instead of the standard 360bhp from the 3.6 engine. Can anyone confirm if a 964 Turbo S was produced? Messrs Iguana or UV?

Yes, IIRC 80 were produced with 3.6 engine and 381PS.

The body style is similar to the RS, letting the car weigh ~200kgs less that the std. 3.3 turbo.

Someones not been reading enough car mags. Maybe they were produced during the Bentley years Eh DeR?

The 993 Turbo S was a limited production run of the last last aircooled 911 turbos ever produced. The vehicle carried a £30k ish premium over the standard 993 turbo. Although the engine mods and spoilers and brakes etc may be retrospectively changed to a Turbo S spec, the car will not be a Turbo S. Tread with care and if you are looking at buying one of these uberpork, with the premium they carry, check with Porsche GB that the vehicle is actually a Turbo S and not a Turbo.

You can tell a genuine S quickly by the interior, they have carbon throughout dash, doors etc...every button & switch is covered in leather & headlining and there are several Turbo S details on the sills etc,,that you cannot get hold of.
Other quick spots are "big yellow" calipers & a carbon front strut bar that is unique to this model.Along with satin finish hollow spoke turbo twists.
The above are the details it would be uneconomical to replicate on a non S model.
I have been fortunate enough to be taken for a P ride in Paul 944/68 Turbo S and it is as desirable as a 993 GT2 in my book.
I beleive there are

Also the 993 Turbo S had air inlets crafted into the rear wheel archs , and i mean crafted not the stick on panels on the 996 Turbo these where beautifully made

The 964 Turbo S was based on the 3.3 car not the 3.6. There was an option 'X88', much the same as X50 for the 996tt, for the 3.6. There was also a flatnose 3.6 turbo which had the X88 as standard. A lot of people refer to the 3.6 X88, in either flatnose or normal, as a Turbo S. This is not strictly the case.

It's like a turbo trainspotting convention in here

And I thought us RS folk were bad

All I can remember about the 965 Turbo S was that Nick Faldo had one in yellow, and it had yellow seat belts to match.

There are a couple up for sale at mom around £70-£75k
not a bad % out of the 30 UK rhd cars made.
The rarity premium is £20-25k in the second hand market,if you spent £20k tuning a regular 993TT it would be a faster car than an S......cue DeR for eloquent prose on creating a monster Uber beetle in the lab.

And you are right about the RS crowd Dom.

Well as a first time post, here we go! Now here is a tale to make you weep. Back in 95 when visiting lancasters in Cambridge there sat a black 965 turbo s being sold on behalf of one 'N Faldo' he had won it, love at first site This sad story does not end there, earlier this year the same dealer had a 964 turbo advertised in the sunday times advert for £39,995 with light weight spec? strange me thinks and gets on the phone. No reply on the Sunday, try them monday morning and it goes something like this
"Hello, i see you have a 964 turbo for sale"
"Ah yes sir, infact that car is a light weight model, but unfortunately it has been sold"
"So it is a Turbo S, 3.3 X88 etc. and it is £39,995, well how about another five grand"
"No sorry sir, we took it in a part exchange for a new GT 2 (why me thinks?)"
"so you won't take more money then?"
"No"

A week later the same vehicle is for sale with Shirleys for £70,000!, which i gather was what they got for it.

Well, somebody sold themselfs £30k short and ended up IMHO with an inferior 911 and I still have a 993C2S. nice but no Turbo

Still if anybody and i mean anybody can lead me to the capture of this golden fleece then please feel free to contact me.

to all the Porschisti out there for the last few years going to Le mans there has been a 965 Turbo in minerva blue running down on the Thursday with a Zonda and Diablo, who is this? what do reckon the chances are of getting the owner to sell it? A long shot but one hellishly nice 911

Welcome vario Rob...sounds like you had a nightmare...
I must admit I did keep going back to Shirleys site to look at the 965 lightweight...I assume this is or was the black one with under 10k miles on it?
At least you have a C2 to enjoy,it could be worse!

Rob welcome to the forum.

I find it amazing that a someone buying a GT2 would not realise they were trading in such a rare valuable limited edition car. I hope you find one, however the chance of getting a £30k discout is remote, I mean how many morons are there out there who own these babies.

PS - Anyone wanting to sell me an 89 speedster for £10k should email me directly, it might get violent around here otherwise.

Daz,apart from the £10k prposition are you sure you want a speedster?
They were my favourite 911 ahead of the CS,,money in pocket, went out in one....decided they look better as an Athena poster than a serious 911 drivers car and bought a CS of the same vintage instead.

Paul, at £10k it would make a delightful addition to the garage. For someone my height it would be the equivalent of haveing a caterham without a windscreen.

Thanks for the greetings and prompt response, indeed the chances of finding another one are indeed on a par with a second coming. Funilly enough I had seen the said 965 out on the hoof in the fens(yes i know) as my now sadly departed lady friend lived there. I saw the b thing in a service station the other side of the road taking on fuel, the 'speedlines' the vented rear arches, the golden bleeding fleece there in the flesh. With the number of tracors, muck spreaders etc i could'nt turn round and go and try and make the bloke an offer, a month of so later it was in Lancasters, the strange thing is he had paid over £90k back in 95 for the thing. Appartently shirleys sold it to a collector in ireland as I recall who already had a yellow one. After coming out of this years Le Mans I then saw a yellow one and my frantic waving at the driver (a mature gentleman) resulted in loads of waves back, then he was gone.............The story continues.

Speedster....mmmmmmm Clubsport for me or an nice and original 3.3 turbo perhaps for sir?

So having explored the 965 thread how about a 968 Turbo S any stories out there?

Daz ref the Speedster would you really prefer a 3.2 over the later 964?

I much prefer the 964 Speedster more in the style of a 964RS with the roof chopped off than 964 cabrio, I never thought much of them to be honest- before I drove one, but now think they are a heck a giggle.

I know this particular car- www.pistonheads.com/porsche/default.asp?storyId=5513
was available a few yrs back for not a million miles away from your budget....

That's because Ultima worship wasn't required on this thread, you wombat. If someone mentions cupholders I may have to wade in with my normal RS/Ultima monologue, though
