Having saved like made to buy my dream Boxster, I have managed to kerb the front wheels pretty seriously. Fell over this site while looking for an alternative to buying brand new ones from Porsche.

Can anyone out there give me any advice? Should I be waryy of the spares/breakers sites? Does anyone have any 17 inch wheels laying about?

Plenty of companies will refinish wheels for not much money at all. So long as there's no structural damamge.

I've used a few of the Porsche breaker/spares companys, and as long as you are very specific over the phone or inspect the item thoroughly then I've never had a problem. If it's just kerbing and not structurally damaged then a good refurbishing company will make it look like new for between £50-75

Thanks guys,

I thought it was not possible to repair alloys. To be honest the two front wheels have creases in them about 3 inches deep. I would guess that this is structural. Have made eenquiries from a couple of online breakers, can't wiat for the weekend to end.

If it's not too painful......How did you manage to seriously kerb BOTH front wheels?

Is this something an insurance claim could help with?

Are you sure they're 3" deep (i.e. into the metal)? That'd be the wheel off, surely?

If you mean 3" in length around the rim/spokes etc, don't worry about it - wheel refinishers will sort it out.

I did exactly the same on mine - three wheels done in the space of a week (car over 6ft wide, very narrow roads and parking space in central London, high kerbs...and evidently worse at parking than I thought!). Was almost in tears but couldn't believe what the refinishers did. They looked brand new and I have no idea how they managed that as was sure it'd need new wheels!!

Was organised through a dealer in Loughborough so don't know what firm was used, but the cost was about 60 quid each wheel.
