New boxster pics look nice. Coupe good idea ... cheapish may compete with elises etc.

Porsche has raided its fifties heritage to good effect with the boxster. Time to move to the sixties surely

Isn't it time to reincarnate the 904. Am I the only one who thinks that these are gorgeous. Out dino-ing the 246gt 8 years before?

New car could follow the lines of the original but updated to compete directly with the elise/vx220. ie mid engined flat 4 (?200hp) turbo (?260hp). Aluminium. Sensible targa/roof (elise/vx220)

Call it .....I don't know....the Florio (would look better in Porsche script).

Unfortunately such a light car would be likely to outperform the more expensive cars. But if they made it sufficiently impractical?....if they got into bed with V.A.G. for a bit of platform sharing?

Am I mad or should Porsche be paying me consulting fees?

I'd love Porsche to move back to its roots & provide a basic affordable sports car, but the only way its realistically gunna happen is if they ever produced an RS version of the Boxster.

However as great a car as this would undoubtably be, following the Porsche charge more for less phylosophy it would probably be priced at a minimun of £10k above the Boxster and probably in the £50k area so well away from the Elise, VX type £20-25k market.

I wouldnt discount that happening, perhaps when the current Box is due to be phased out, however the Box performance would have to be a fair way off the GT3 or it would damage those sales.

Ref Flat 4 engine, the 904 lump came via the 356 & although I guess its posible to re-engineer the six I don't see why they would bother.
