I've managed to break off the corner of my "Boxster S" logo due to over vigourous polishing of the boot. I'm thinking of removing it all together. Anyone else done this and aware of any pitfalls please?

Just spent the whole day Zymol'ing for the first time. Looks fantastic!

Cheers

LOL, although I know I shouldn't. I hope you have some paint left on the Bosxter, too You must wax on/wax off like the karate kid!

You can remove the badges by prising them off. Best technique is probably to use steam from a kettle to soften the gummy adhesive backing, then use dental floss to 'saw' the badge off. You may be left with gummy sh1t on the paint, so use a mild solvent to remove the gummy glue. WD40 should work, likewise fly/tar removing spray. Thinners definitely will but be careful if using it as it is far from mild

My old neighbour has recently done the same. His view is get the OPC to deal with it at the service. They'll almost certainly do it for free...

Only that people will see you in the car and seeing no S badge will then think its a gutless 2.5 not an S, thus you will be subject to much pointing and being laughed at and forever labeled as the man with the slow car with a Porsche badge on it

Surely anyone who knows the difference between the S and the standard Boxster will know that the S has a twin exhaust. They'll never get close enough to my rear to the see the S on the bonnet anyway!

On reflection, think I'll get the dealer to sort it. They owe me a favour - they've just realised that the reason why my BOSE stereo hasn't been auto adjusting the volume to speed is that Porsche fitted the wrong microphone from new. Only took 4 visits to the workshop to figure that one out.

I think the twin exhaust exits and the extra hole in the front would give the game away, don't you?

About time you did a buyers guide to the Boxster Alex. Might I suggest:

2.5 - slow car
2.7 - not as slow as a 2.5
3.2 - not as slow as a 2.7, but with nice red brake calipers. Oh, and another leaf catcher up front.

Really? I thought it was a "speed pulse" wire arrangement sending a signal to the stereo?

Well that's what they've told me. Makes sense, as it's supposed to measure the ambient noise level, not just speed.

:sarcasum mode on:

Oh I see, so the many 2.5 Boxter owners I've sold twin exit exhuasts to actually had S's did they, doh silly me.

Ive just got to give my mate missis a call coz she will be dead chuffed to realise that the 2.5 she owns that has a twin exhaust & S spec wheels and a nice coat of red paint on the calipers has miraculously transformed its self into an S coz she will be very pleased.

ha you think after the Porschaa Boxtaaaa song at Pist-fest I will ever do anything to cause more Boxster abuse to come my way.

In truth I'm not that clued up on Boxsters or that interested in 'em mate. far more knowledge is available on PH from Don etc that I have on the subject.

I've spent several years hating the things after driving a few style over substance 2.5's & only recently have I begun to think what a sweet little package the S provides.

If I do ever get to drive that GT3 engined box you can be sure the good Doctor will do a piece but that as they say my son is a different kettle of eels.

ps not a bad little piece that, do you want me to negotiate a freelance journo rate with Ted
