911TT X50 insurance
Discussion
cant speak for the X50, but I was told by Tesco that I had to declare all the options on mine, factory fit or not.
If i didnt list them ALL, i was told that
a) in the event of theft, I ran the risk of the claim being voided (due to the Aero Kit making it more 'desirable'
b) in the event of theft / fire i wouldnt be covered for any of the options, and would only get a 'base model' in return.
Given the options list can run into £10s of thousands, esp with X50, i think its a must to declare.
iirc a few of the guys on here list in their profile it was only a 10% loadinf (think it was Daz's)

X50 actually refers to the pricing structure for the conversion.
Getting another 34bhp out of a mildly tuned turbo unit is actually quite easy, involving a remapped chip, an airbox with holes made by a black and dekker in it, and a couple of old washers stuck in the wastegates. Total cost? About 120 GBP, but by the time you've added labour, VAT and carriage from one end of the workshop to the other, it is 240GBP.
The engineers at Weissach knew that this was underpricing the mod so they multiplied this figure by 50 times, standard Porsche procedure apparently.
Therefore, the conversion was known as 'X50'.
All true

I told my insurers (Porsche Insurance Services) about the X50 upgrade - they told me it would not increase the premium (apart from the fact that it adds a wedge to the value of the car!).
Edited to mention that this policy has a £1000 excess, this may have been altered by X50... not sure.

Well as the car is only a few weeks away I thought I'd phone round again. Direct Line now seem very interested in all options, especially the X50 and quoted me £3K. Considering I pay £790 for my 03 C4 I'm dissapointed. Phoned a couple more places but they are all getting back to me. Any recommendations for reasonable insurance companies gratefully received.

I was with performance marque for 4 years and they came in £300 more expensive than last year with no claims or change in circumstances,,,,so forget those clowns!
With this dilemma I tried www.confused.com ended up with admiral about £400 cheaper than the ludicrous quote i received...try www.liverpoolvictoria.co.uk but you may need to phone ref x50
