Hi guys,
Would appreciate some advice. Have seen a really nice 1985 911 3.2 carrera coupe, 113,000 miles, fsh, new clutch/tyres etc, guards red. In good nick, some paintwork needs attention but otherwise sound. What is a ballpark figure to pay? Which insurers are offering good deals now? - 26, 5 yr NCB, 0 points...
cheers, dadrock

As the car is over 10 years old you should buy classic insurance.Lancaster insurance, nice and cheap and they look after you.

Huuuuuuugley dependant on condition, (plus has it had a top end re-build done recently??) but assuming its RHD the £10k-£13k area. Posibly sub £10k if its a bit tatty)

You could try AON Classic Car policies or Carole Nash.

Used both for bike & car and seem pretty good to me.

Just remember, where there's a bubble, there's a hole...a bit of filler & a touch-up stick isn't going to fix it, so bear that in mind when handing over the folding

I agree with Rubystone, the mid-80`s 911`s might well be galvanised, but they still go in places. My `87 coupe went around the side repeating indicators in the front wings and at the base of one of the front headlamps.

Also, look at the undersides of the rear impact bumper blades (behind each rear wheel) the paint flakes off under there with time, and the only proper way to fix it is taking the bumpers to bits, re-paintng and replacing the bellows. Same applies to stone chipping on the front ones!

I'm with Carole Nash on a "Classic" policy. They don't take your starting mileage from you when you take out the policy so go for the lowest expected mileage they offer. I think it's 3K, and it does bring the premium down. The nice lady on the phone more or less told me this was the way to do it.

You can always tell them if you go over that amount, can't you.
