Bruntingthorpe speed list ??

Agreed Paul, although is there really much difference in aerodynamics? I know the designs are a few years apart, but even so....
BTW, GREAT to see you last Sunday Paul, sorry I never said it before but I've been ill with flu for the last week and even more irritable than usual. Lovely RS thanks for the run in it - Emms got a super pic of it...will mail it your way.

Good to see you on a great day...i will look out for the pic many tks....
Ref aerodynamics..at top end it really does seem like 8-10mph on similar engined 993/996...993 has a more upright front screen, rain gutters & the rear hips are much more pronounced than on 996...I think this really comes into effect from speeds above 140-150.
A 550bhp 993 will easily out perform a 450 engine car for obvious reasons, before the forces of nature affect the Force of prime Pork under the engine lid.

Ja, Paul but ve have ze secret veapon for uber schnellerism which is currently being perfected in ze underground Reich complex...
Ein acoustic form of nitrous hoofkreig; at 160 mph an aerodynamic klaxxon horn will emerge from ze roof unt dispense Wagner's Ring Cycle at previously unheard amplitude.
I fully expect to melt ze time line mit uber 200 registering on the duly annexed digital readouts.
There can be no surrender until Asgard calls.
Achtung Himmel!

I heard an unfortunate rumour that in the acceleration stakes - upto about 120MPH the Noble GTO3 was quicker than anything else......... can anyone who was present confirm or deny this?!
It is a rumour I can comment on. The Nobel does appear to be geared for the traffic light grand prix with very short ratios on the first three gears. On a rolling start from 20 mph both cars in second gear the Nobel was thus running higher revs than a certain 996ttX50 giving it an initial advantage upon booting it...........and it took a fair while to reel the bugger back in as well.

So much depends/depended on the slickness of this, that or the other thing, ito clutch dumping, gear timings and when best torque and power bands came on tap.
Whilst young Dan's Noble R did apparently fly orf against the KaiserViggen, the inevitable was not long in transpiring.
In any case, Herr Dazhoffen is renowned for NOT abusing his clutch, preferring the said inevitability to bring forth it's decisive blow time, after time, after time.
At one point I witnessed Guy's wickedness in full fury as the Ultima established a certain prowess, shall we say, against said 996TT X-pack conquering vehicle...
Frankly, had my own clutch not dissolved, I would have relished the chance for a small tete a tete!
Whatever, it's all uncommonly fine in the larkage department.

Clutch was taken out of the equation as they were 20mph rolling starts.
Gearing would have something to do with it, but remember the massive low down torque of the Noble 3.0l engine that also certainly helped here.
If the Noble was more slippery then I'd expect it to fair better past the 120 mark (which was where the Proker started to reel the bugger back in) as the Noble starts to hit a big brick wall above that.
However, the 410bhp monster M12 (Lee's Tweakomatic Special) that I was playing with on Friday would certainly give el 996ttX50 a run for it's money down the whole length. It is hoped that some Noble upgrades may be available in time for Father Christmas to add them to his list, so who knows what will turn up at the next one next year

Sounds awesome! I take it the RAC / AA are on a recruitment drive as we speak.,....sorry a little harsh!
