Although the clip was very short on the gt3, i still had goose bumps watching it. It even made me go a very long way home from where i was watching it, just for a blast in my 911.

Nice to see the car in action, especially when the Stig showed how it should be done..i was a little frustrated by the little guy driving it as he span it on every slide, sometimes the camera panned away just before to look like he was still sliding...

If you go on to the Porsche GB used car page there are about 12 GT3 including some MK2 which are basically list,,,why wait
As for a Noble it is not really that fair a comparison in my opinion,,but I am pleased that Nobles appear to be getting better and hopefully this will continue as they are developed further.

That little guy on TG looks like a monkey, always bouncing up and down going like hell on the test track and proving....... well nothing at all!!

Trouble is with with OPC orders for 911GT3's they cant build enough and are takeing orders 'in good faith' then envoking clause 3f of the contract to hold deposits on cars they can never fulfill orders for. such is the case with my 996RS order through a Reading dealer.
As a punter you may want to look at clause 2b of the OPC Vehicle order form "the seller shall not be obliged to fulfil orders in the sequence in which they were placed"
Am I bitter yes

So they have kept your money even though the allocation has run out? Can't be true, surely?

Look on the bright side if you leave the deposit rolling, you are probably a little nearer the front of the queue if they ever make a 997RS.

And to some are equally as good looking....

The justification for an 996 RS is starting to look a little hollow.

Clubsport (Paul) made me laugh. He said he refused a Cayenne as a courtesy car and insisted on another model (or walking home, I presume )

Now that's a man with principles.

Presumably they are treating courtesy cars as good opportunities for Porsche customers to be converted to Cayenne ownership.

No mention of the Stigs wet GT3 time of 1.27.2 opposed to the dry TreVoR time of 1.27 yet, any comments ?

Dragstar. All have an engine block derived from the GT1 (ie different block than the Carerra 2/4)

GT3: 381bhp 2WD 2 seater about £74k.

GT3 RS: 400ishbhp 2WD 2 seater about £85k. (some lightweight components and some whizz bang suspenaion mods, cool paint job as well)

Turbo: 420bhp 4WD 2+2 seater about £87k (softer suspension than the GT2/3.

GT2: 462bhp 2WD 2 seater about £115k.

Oh and the GT3/2 are available as a clubsport version which is even more track orientated with roll cage fire resistant material on seats etc....

ADL,

The new Noble 3R has been developed considerably since the 3 ltr that was driven on Top Gear last year. Autoexpress rated the Noble 3R better (Quicker)than the GT3 on the track. The Noble is also a lot lighter than the GT3.

I don't wish to hi-jack this thread, but the Noble 3R is coming up on the rails very, very quickly.

To be honest, I am not even sure that GT3 and Noble are competing head on. There is some customer overlap, for sure, but there are many customers who would be polarised and not look at 'the other car' at all.

For a start, the GT3 is a lot more expensive. It also has a famous badge that is more likely to gain respect at the Golf club (amongst the ignorati admittedly) and appear on company car and leasing company lists. It also has build quality and main dealer back up that Noble cannot match.

However, the Noble is a fine car in its own right and more of a track toy. I would say its competitors where more in the arrive/drive track day market.... 964RS/993RS, Caterham, Exige etc.

It is dead on competition for a low miles RHD 993RS if you ask me, but the GT3 is a slightly different car. If they did the GT3-RS for 58k maybe that would be a better comparison.

Fair enough to mention the Noble, tho'. I like them a lot and think they should be on every wish lists that automatically has a Ferrari or Porsche in it.

I have to agree
I was driven round Bedford Autodrome in the latest Noble by Don Palmer. He was doing speeds well in excess of 100mph totally sideways.
It was fantastic.
I must admit to being tempted for a couple of days. But it really would only be as a track car. The build quality just isnt there( like the T350) to feel comfortable using as a daily driver.

If I were to spend 45/50k on a car, I would spend 5 more and get an original GT3. 10 years from now it will still be a classic. The Noble and particularly any TVR currently available, certainly wont.
