And if you look very closely at the underside of the crankcase, they all have a 964.XXX.XXX.XX part number stamped on them....

petepeter,

Where can you get a GT3 for 50 / 55K ?

If it's a used one, that's quite a big hit to take on car that listed at some £77,000 even for Porsche.

Having bought into the Noble Marque, I have to say the build quality, attention to detail and development over the past 18 months is quite staggering. And it is not stopping there.

Being a small company, Noble can react to customer / market demands much quicker than a large corporate one.

No disrespect to Porsche or any other large Sports car manufacturer.

Cheers,
Ian.

there is a gt3 comfort in the classifieds. i take it the comfort adds a little more weight but im sure is still very respectable.

Having had a few Loti in the past ,having always had a british sportscar since pre driving days...I would like to give a Noble a chance...BUT and it is a but,it is simply not developed YET,,,no high horse,,,you buy one and a much better model is out next year.
I have seen them on track and they go well, for a while, but to compare them to RS Porsche is quite honestly looking through the most rosey of spectacles.

The RS are OVER engineered to take track work in their stride,,,a Noble as yet is not...This is where the years of development come into play and the money spent on a the track focussed Porsches.

A Noble is a great car, getting better but not there yet......I will keep my views on the Porsche forum, I would feel it unappropriate to shout off how good some of the porsches are on a Noble forum

I think Noble build quality is better than TVR, maybe on a par with Ferrari, just a gnat's todger above Lotus (Elise). It isn't up to 993 build integrity, but I feel the 996 build is one or two percent behind the aircooled cars, so the gap between Noble and Porsche isn't a chasm - more a noticeable gap. To be honest it tends to be mainly in research and development terms that the Noble lags behind - not in the dynamics as they are exemplary, but in terms of long term reliability testing etc.

You can get a LHD GT3 for about 40k, I think 50-55k would get a RHD one, but never look for the pricey RHD ones so not sure. As I said before, I think the GT3 is a slightly different car in execution, and the 993RS a better comparison.

There was a yellow GT3 RHD with 7k miles on PH classifieds in the summer for £57k (owned by a PHer I seem to remember). It was the immaculate one that was at Pistonfest on the sunday. Notably a similar car then appeared in the sunday times two weeks later advertised at £64k.

Ref LHD prices these have definitely firmed up due to the exchange rates and perhaps more interest following the introduction of the mk2. Eg a colleague was offered a silver clubsport in May 2002 for the equivalent of £43k (in Germany).

Ref GT3 for £50--55k.

Right now there are the following available:-

1] RHD in Zanzibar at OPc for £55,995 asking
2] RHD in Zanzibar at Independant specialist for £54,995 asking
3] 2 x LHD at Camtune at £54k
4] RHD at Camtune for £58k
5] RHD in Guards at OPC for £60k
6] RHD in silver at OPC for £69k
7] RHD in Yellow private at £56k

Plus a few others here and there at £59--61k but these are asking prices as winter advances you could scor another grand or so off if you push.

Would I buy a used GT3 over a new Noble ? You bet,my Lapis Blue is now residing in my garage. I never even looked at a Noble the only other consideration for me was a 993 Turbo 4 but although solid it feels like an old car now.

Clubsport,

I hope you don't think I'm shouting off about another Marque on this forum site.

I have been a Porsche owner for many years and now enjoying (thoroughly) a different Marque.

I also enjoy a good debate.

Will go away and be quite now.

Cheers,
Ian.

No problem with a debate,,, it's just that when you look at lies damn, lies & statistics...The proportion of Noble failures compared to RS failures on track is quiet telling....I am a big fan of the Noble as said,,it is certainly a quicker car than most non TT Porsche, which i again respect....
it's just the number of component let downs that disappoints me...The most likely scenario for not driving your porsche home from a hard track session is if you bin it..Touch wood up to now I have not been let down by the engineering of the car.

I thought Ian's contribution was quite fair and well put, but then again I was taking his comments as being from an ex 993RS owner. If he hadn't owned one it would have been a bit troll like.

It is fair enough to mention your views on a competitive marque on a forum if you do so diplomatically and sensibly. I thought Ian was the right side of the line, and welcome his comments re Nobles here

It is no worse than meno-Porsche suggesting a 964 to someone looking for a Boxster, as like the GT3 and Noble they are slightly different animals

Obviously no probs from my part...but you have to expect a certain angle to responses if you make such comments in a Porsche section.

I don't have a problem with Ian's contributions either but I have to agree with clubsport and say I am far from impresseed with the problems experienced by the owners of Nobles earlier cars when doing trackdays etc. It is on this basis alone I would not even consider one. No doubt they are great road cars but can they take sustained "exercise/abuse" in the manner some of the Porker owners on here dish out? experience would suggest not. However if reliability problems have been ironed out they could be a real thorn in TVR's side.

Autocar did an article on sleeping policemen.

The GT3 is lowered by 30mm to 70mm.

The maximum legal height of the aforementioned is 100mm.

Does anyone have any practical experience of such an encounter between car and traffic calming ?

Thanks, Chris W.

Mk1 GT3 rubs on some speed humps, but just scuffs the plastic lower lip, which is cheap to replace after it becomes scarred. Mk2 GT3 seems to clear all humps, as it rides higher than the Mk1.

Enjoyed the debate guys.

I hope to see you sometime at a track day, or event in the future.

Just posted a picture of my 3R on my profile.

Cheers,
Ian.
