as a newby also to 911's 18 months ago, I tried a couple of 993 c4's and c'2 and new 996 (facelift)

Sorry to say, but the cabin of the 993 was off putting,(old fashioned) pedals offset (makes my back twinge), less BHP and less space inside. I think the 993 perhaps looks better from the outside.

I enjoyed the ride better in the 996 and thus got a new Targa.

the Boxter S is very good as well (curtesy car).

Hope this helps, But Hey- its a good delema to be in.

any 911 is better then no 911

I have owned 3 TVR's - 1 Cerbera 4.2 (frighteningly quick - in a straight line) and 2 Tuscans - build quality was definitely less than par

Now own a 996 C2 and am loving it - less involving to drive slowly but certainly feels a lot more secure at speed (on tracks officer)and is an everyday car evem in this weather

Am definitley saving for the GT3 as the 60 or so bhp drop (from the Tuscan) sometimes frustrates!

I did move to the dark side (from TVR) but have absolutely no regrets (and will probably lose much less money)

I am a convert!

Remember, the Porsche forum is the only place you can still discuss speed six engines without getting flamed

We have sensible discussions about the Cayenne. Myself and Clubsport think it is sodding ugly but a good car, and Steve and the other owners think it is a looker and a good car.

Hmmm that's a bit like "I know she's not a very pretty girl but she has a GREAT personality"

BTW- Passed one the other night and my passenger honestly thought it was the new Lada Niva.

Mind you... she IS a girl!

Up here it's a sort of Harrogate shopping trolley. I've only seen four and they've all been driven by women tooling round Harrogate doing the shopping. The women have all been downright ugly but still more attractive than the fat pepper.
