I'd really like to come along to the next Brunters, chaps...and I agree with Daz about March for the weather.
You should Mr Corleone, good fun it is too.
We start early at Thomas Towers with tea and buns, watching Derestrictor arguing theology with a Chief Rabbi I thoughtfully invited. Then a quick brief on how to get there from mine, swiftly followed by a blast thorugh Northamptonshire and Leicestershire's finest countryside.
Quick bout of fat chewing in the car park before Uncle Craig gets us round to "Ratburgers R Us" area for a quick summary of the days proceedings. Quick oggle of the machinery you're sharing the tarmac with. Quick lap to familiarise yourself, then its over to Marshall Cockney Barrow-Boy and we're orf!
Good enough to leave the in laws at home.

.... as much notice as poss please Craig for the exact date.... will be off skiing at some point in March and wouldn't want a clash (and at the moment the timing for skiing is flexible).... I want to be there on the day that DeR outshines Daz

Well if a spot is available I will be there. I fancy seeing whether or not I can actually max the thing out...
I don't think that's even a question, Don...
Greg & Emm got pretty near (if not to) the point of ultimate neck wringing in Gorgeous George during Brunters II at around 163, I vaguely recall.
(Didn't they up the power a snifter on the very latest versions? In which case a three digit figure with '7' i'th'middle may be an occurrence.)

They did indeed up the power. From 252bhp to 260bhp! If there's a 7 in the number it'd be at the back end at about 167 theoretically achievable. Personally I think actually getting up there is somewhat unlikely even on a two mile straight!
Should get 140+ easily though and 150+ seems possible with a tailwind and the early application of power
Going to be interesting to see what braking from that speed is like. I have a suspicion that the sheer length of the "retardation process" is likely to generate enough undispersed heat to cause trials and tribulations... I suspect a brake/off/brake/off cycle might be wise for the preservation of the machine - if not the attainment of the highest velocity or swiftest lap times...but since Brunters isn't really about lapping I don't care...I'd just like to see that dial in the upper regions of automotive amusement...
Cheers Mark.
The only thing currently preventing greater strides into the v-max abyss are the aerodynamic inefficiencies caused by Rufus von Klepp (the guy whose styling house penned the 993 silhouette).
His other great design icon was the common or garden house brick, thus, some form of Indo-Puegot restylee exercise seems like an irresistable inevitability.
Alternatively, chatting to a man who can recently, I may opt for longer cogs on 5 & 6 which may aid the cause substantially: as it is, it's too easy to headbutt the already raised limiter in top...
Schweinhund!

Nah, don't worry Don.
With a tailwind you should see 160 easily.....Emm managed it easily on several occasions. With regard to braking you'll be staggered how impressive the stoppers are at pulling you up from that sort of velocity. They're ridiculously over capable and confidence inspiring.
What we need is a hybrid of your good self and my missus - your masterful ability through the bottom curves and Emm's rampant boot-ism up the straight - then we'd have a winner.
Maybe, just maybe we'd see 170....
Greg
