Yes another tyre thread, sorry got to be done I'm afraid ! My 944 runs 15" wheels and as such the tyres are rather tall, running a 60 cross section rather than the more popular 50 or 45.

As I do track days I would like to run with a narrower side wall. But I assume this will affect the speedo reading, which although not important on the track is a bit vital on the public road if I want to hang onto my licence.

I've come to the conclusion that I probably need two sets one for the track and a taller set for road use but what do you guys recomend for either ?

Cheers
Steve

For track use get a set of 15" cookie cutters with semi slicks on (and yes they will fit in the back fo the 944) - the 944 race cars run on Cookie Cutters as they are cheap and light - although they are moving on to running Fuche wheels next year apparently

I have a set in my garage you can have for 50 notes if you want them

I run my 944 runs on 16 inch wheels and pzeroCs with a profile of 50. These are a track type. and the differnce between these ad my old road types is literally unbelivable in corners once they are hot.

If you would like some decent tyres to go with those wheels, Ive got a set of 4 tyres to suit an early 944- in 215/60/15, 2 of which are new, & 2 have approx 5mm. These are on a set of 944 teledials. You can have the tyres for £50 or so, or the whole lot for just a few £ more.

Also a pair of 225/50/15s for a bit more rear grip.

See my advert in the classifieds for more details-

I think teledials have the wrong offset or something so are probably not suitable for a 84 944. But I might be interested in the 225s. I'll be in touch, I'm based in Reading.

Steve there are a few types of Teledials for 944s, all of which I belive will fit early steel wishbone 944s, although some types 'might' need spacers.

These ones will fit, but are not the more desireable deep dish early 944 Turbo type. Still worth having for the tyres or as 'shove em in the gravel & not care' track wheels.

I'm just a few mins down the M4 from you anyway, if you want to take a look.
