Decided to give the import a miss in the end and have just put a deposit down on a 2000 996 C2 in Silver.

Can't wait to pick it up and give it a proper thrashing !!!!

Sorry, just wanted to share my excitment with everyone :-)

PORSCHE 996 Carrera 2 Coupe, 2000 W Reg , Silver Metallic, 21,000 miles . Full Grey Leather, Climate Control, Six Speed Manual Transmission, Electric Seats, Cruise Control, Remote central Locking, Porsche CR - 21 Stereo System, TC Control, Aluminium Gearshift and Door Handles, Five Spoke 17" Alloy Wheels,

Paid £38k which seems like a good deal to me :-)

Dealer, but not a specialist. Although I'm having a full specialist inspection done on it.

sounds good but remember that a 17" wheeled car is worth quite a bit less (though ironicaly drives better)

Yeah I knew that. But to be honest my preference was for the 17"s for the reason you mention. Plus the rubber will be that little bit cheaper !! Can always whack some 18"s on there later...
