Hi all,

I am thinking of going off travelling but do not want to sell my 993. My current insurance is £2.5k per year as I live in london and do 10-15k miles in it per year. When i go away by Mrs old man will be looking afger it in his garage. He lives in teh sticks, is 55 with loads of no claims and will drive it once every 2 weeks for 20 miles or so.

Does any one know a company that will provide layaway insurance? I.e cheap for 1 year as car will be safe with very little use.

Many thanks

Dan.

Try one of the classic policies through someone like AON. You can seriously restrict the milage to about 1000 pa, so that it can be driven every now and then.

Better still, if you take it off the road all together, you will pay an insurance rate per £1,000 of value of the car. Which, if you lay-up the car properly, will be much more cost effective whilst you are away.

Make the statutory SORN notification to DVLA and job done!
