Discussion
Just buying 944S2. put down deposit and collect in couple of weeks. 1990 H FSH fo 8.2K. Yep a lot of dosh but milage 83K and serviced on friday. used 944FAQ and the beauty met every thing.
I need to know how long the clutch is likely to last, can I use an oil additives to limit wear when cold, anyone know a good and cheap independent specialist in SE London.
Only negative is some green moss on rubber under spoiler, cleaned off but what will sort it for good.
The purchase was intuitive and the vendor came across as a straight bloke. He obviously didn't want to sell but had moved and needed carpets etc.
Vendor thought no airbags is that right.
On driving this car it was so taunt, I would never have believed a car for this money could be so ................ I'm very excited about collecting and cann't imagine ever going to bed again, why waste the time I'm not at work with sleeping.

I did 130k in mine and it still had the original clutch. Get the cam chain checked and make sure the cambelt is replaced as per the book, 2 years or 60,000 miles if checked every 24000. Other than that pretty much bullet proof. Oh rear drive shafts will go if you let the boots split.

I believe my 146,000 mileage S2 is still on it's original clutch (huge history file and no mention of it, I've put 50,000 on myself).
Oil additives are a personal choice, I would just recommend regular oil changes with 10w40 Magnatec and a genuine filter.
Make sure you check the cam chain and tensioner (this can't be emphasised enough), as well as the normal cam belt and balance belt.

Try a rubber refurbisher, Halfords may have something for external trim like 'Back to Black'.

From memory, airbags came in with the 968.
Congratulations, a 944 S2 is a world-class automobile, and one of the best driver cars for the money at any price, by any manufacturer, and this includes contemporary and newer products from Porsche. Take care of it, keep it well maintained, it will run a heck of a long time. I maintain my old '84 like an airframe. My '90 S2 had 84,000 on the odometer, and it drives just like new, just an unbelievable package for the money, and with that legendary longevity of the silicone embedded block too. Your block, however, is siamesed for additional strength, whereas the other 944 blocks were all full coolant jackets around the cylinder.

thanks for all the messages. just 9 days to go and I collect.
PS public transports not bad for reading, pity about the cramped and dirty compartments, the waiting in the windblown rain for an extra 30 mins cos they cancelled my train (2 out of 6 so far), having to get up 40 mins earlier and traveling without a cup of coffee.
But no complaints about walking except having to whatch my back against some delinquent juvenile and slippery pavements.
I will never ever risk my licence.

Message for Jason Jones, you asked where....
J534 BAL is,
I bought it in April from a retired chap who had covered 10k miles since 1999, had garaged it and never taken it out in the rain.
Stunning condition, makes my TVR look tatty! I'd go as far as saying its concours condition.
When did you own it?
