...I know it's hard to say but what's everyone's guess at it's value in 3 years? It was first registered in July 2003 and has 3K miles - I'll probably add another 20K in three years.

Look at the values of 3 year old cars now and add a little bit. Mid fifties would be my guess.

To be honest I wouldn't add the little bit to be fair, the reason is the mk2 GT3 will be produced in greater numbers than the mk1 was...
Also the 997 will be out on the verge of 998 production, so the 996 may be less desirable....time will tell...not easy.

But think of the grin factor. Thats got to be value for money.

(Unless of course the 3 years of grinning gives you really bad wrinkles).

About what I thought but always interesting to get some confirmation.

I agree about the smiles but it works out about £6K a year more than my 3200 and you can have a lot of fun for £6K!

Just buy one becuase you can afford it!
You cant take your money with you.

Im saying all this because I love Porsches and the GT3 summarises what I love about them.

Unfortunately they dont sell em for £15K though, so Im still looking for a Griff.

Edited: but thats not a lot of help to you really!
Sorry, the thought of buying a GT3 made me

I had three Griffiths - 4.3 and two 5.0. Great cars. The first 5.0 was hopeless and I spent the best part of £20K in two years on maintenance alone - engine rebuilds! I would advise not buying an early 5.0 as they didn't modify the cooling system until about P reg cars. The 4.3 was the best - I did 42K miles in two years with no problems at all. Hope you find a good one.

£20K! Flipping 'eck!
What colour, year, reg was it?

I thought the cooling was sorted in late 94 with the serpentine engine?

When you get the GT3 take me for a spin in it.

What about buying a Mark 1 then? I'd like to say that they'll depreciate further ('cos I want one) but I think they've done most of their depreciation now. What do others think?

I've certainly got one eye on the prices of Mk 1 GT3s. I think they will stop depreciating in 3 or 4 years time and the cheapest RHD ones will be 42-43 grand.

Do I win a prize?

I would definately recommend buying a GT3 mark 1 having just bought a Mk1 clubsport. I considered a mark 2 but dedided against it because (a) the motoring press in the main are of the opinion that the earlier car is the better drivers car (have a read of recent articles in Evo and GT Purely Porsche) and(b)because there are only 107 RHD mark 1were made.

Geoff

PS I paid 54K for mine but prices at most OPC's are in the 57-60K range.

I agree with both Rubystone & Porschegeoff a Mk1 is the answer. It was c£80k new most were delivered into UK during late '99 and early 2000. So they are now fully 4 years old and most of the hit was someone elses. The best examples are in early 20000mile territory. With some others around at 32-45000 miles.
Prices vary wildly based on mileage, whats to spend [if u know where to look] and how much/little trackwork it has had.
CS vs Comfort--Down to choice as is RHD vs LHD
Actual numbers were c1830 toal, all hand built inWeissach race workshop. c330 RHD of which 108 came officially to UK. Around 28% of total were Clubsports rest were Comfort. No performance diff between the two. Both cars even weigh the same.

Count on c£59k for a peach and c£53 for one thats less than perfect....
LHD is around £49k to c£53k dependant on same vagaries as above.
I have one of each available should you wish to PM me.

DustyC - Yes that's right. I couldn't remember the reg. when the change took place. Mine was and L reg green car. I won't publish the full reg in case I upset someone but if you want to avoid it email me.

Thanks for the comments and I'll certainly think about it.
