Had a bizarre one the other day with my normal dull car, & thus normal dull type mainstream insurer.

Said im thinking of adding a fairly standard car for use as a track car to my normal policy- we dont do track cover she says, yes i know that I reply, I just want third party cover for the minimal road use part, so i can just have the car as an additional car on my policy as Ive done for yrs with 2nd & third cars.

We stil wont cover it is her reply!!

The official line here was that if I was driving to WATCH a track day or race/sprint/hillclimb etc that was fine, but if I actually DID any of the above then my road cover was void!!

Oh well best bung the harnesses, helmets, raceboots, trackday sticker numbers and/or sprint race number roundals etc in someone elses boot for the drive home then!!

Thanks all,

LV indeed came up trumps 575 unlimted milage and all track day cover - just 130 more than my heritage cover with 2000 miles and the other 'classic' limitations

Sorry, the language here is ambiguous: are you saying that you do or don't now have a 2000 miles limited mileage and other 'classic' limitations on your new policy that has track day cover?

Just wondering but has anyone claimed with Liverpool Victoria after a trackday incident - my insurance is with them and I was just curious, in case the worse ever happens.

Don't see the problem with 3rd party driving back from trackdays, could understand the ins. co. being a bit wary with fully comp. I left the trackday and 2 miles down the road this tree apeared and destroyed the LHS of the car, in an armco style shape!

iguana,
thats crazy. So that means that you are not allowed to do what you want with your own car on private grounds.
Insurance companies seem to think they rule the world.
They are the scum. The lowest of the low. Just cant wait to get more and more money off us and then let us down in our time of need.

That excludes any of the ones giving me good quotes/service just lately
