997 Turbo wheels on a 996 Turbo
Discussion
Hi all,
After two M3s I have made the gigantic leap in to a 2003 MY04 996 turbo. I haven't got the car yet but have paid a deposit. I want to know if the 997 turbo wheels will fit on to the 996 turbo, any hassles with tyre pressure monitors or the like?
I can't wait.

Believe they will fit but sure they're 19" instead of standard 18".After two M3s I have made the giantic leap in to a 2003 MY04 996 turbo. I haven't got the car yet but have paid a deposit. They won't improve ride, but they will make you look like a drug dealer

There is a sensor and transmitter inside the valve in each wheel.
Is there anyway of telling if it is still there? I am looking at a set and I think they have been removed, but the tyres are still on the rims. Is it a DIY job to refit or can any tyre company do it? What's involved in syncing them back up to the car?Thats correct, the spacers make the tyre clear the arch liner, although next tyres for the rear will be slightly narrower. The longer wheel bolts ensure that there are five full turns of thread engagement.
I ignored the tyre pressure monitors, my car does not have the facility to read them. In fact I don`t think any 996 Turbos did?

They look absolutely wrong and out of proportion on a 996 Turbo. Every time I see a 996T for sale with 997T wheels, I wonder what kind of a person would put these on over the 996T wheels. I just think "there's always one". 997T wheels on a 996T look utterly rubbish. Sorry.

agreed; there was never much love for the 997 turbo wheels(IMVHO)

Those wheels do nothing for me, it looks like someone is trying to make their car look like a GTX which plainly the turbo is not.I am at a bit of a loss now, might just stick with the plain old 18s for a while.

7T wheels are surely the ugliest wheels Porsche have ever made. They couldn't look more wrong on a 6T.
+1, they look a lot better painted black with a polished rim thoughOP - make sure you keep the originals and advertise it with them, as most P buyers will think your taste is awful

a 997 turbo and a 996 turbo are good cars in their own right.
however, imho, a 996 turbo with 997 turbo wheels is chavvy tackiness personified and really just says 'I can't afford a 997 turbo'. Stick with the normal wheels - it is far far better.
I put the 997 wheels on mine as the original twists were a mess, I like the look of them and yes, I cannot afford a 997 Turbo! however, imho, a 996 turbo with 997 turbo wheels is chavvy tackiness personified and really just says 'I can't afford a 997 turbo'.
