I have a mere 2.7, though this is a new car Jan 04, being a replacement to a 2.5 i bought last year.

IMHO its fast enough for me, though i know plenty of people with "s" and agree it is a much faster machine.

I find it provides enough fun for me, and if a long journey with mixed driving, will return near to 28mpg. Though a track day was only 12.5mpg.

Costs are non existant at present, and i only intend to keep it as long at the warrentee is in place (2 years). Its also a second car, so its only fueling it, set of tires per year. £500-600 and one service £200-300... But best of all, lots of fun.

Just been up and down from Leeds a few times in the last 2 weeks. Average was about 30 mpg according to the trip computer. Around town I get between 18-23.

I found the pirellis much more progressive and, contrary to reputation, they wore a lot better than my michelins. I`m having a big problem with wear on the outside edge of the rears. I`ve had the geometry checked numerous times and am fairly anal about tyre pressures but it still looks like I`m a hooligan!

I,ve just sold a 99T 2.5 and here are some facts below.

I bought the car with 19000 miles on the clock from an OPC and it was my first porsche. The clutch failed 3000 miles after buying it - Porsche fixed / contributed after complaint as I am not sore on clutches with other cars I have owned. First years service was 48 month service and that with new clutch came to £1400

I did not have any claims in warranty period.

I put a full set of new tyres all round after 15 months and these were 17" CONTIS. The cost was £485 ex VAT from Cooper Bros in Wishaw. Local OPC charge £155 per rear so it pays to shop around.

3 days after warranty expired the car would not start and had top be towed away to OPC for investigation. Air Mass flow sensor = £500 bill.

Lightbulb behind heating control needed replaced. Sounds simple! over £100 for labour.

5 year / 60000 mile service was around £260.

Car covered a total of 37000 miles (I did 18K). I bought from OPC for £27K in Jun 01 and sold last week to OPC for £20K swapping for C4S. Car is stocked in OPC Edi @ £23995. So beware Porsche main dealers do lump on a bit for margin. But independents offered £18k!! to buy. I didn't want to sell from house as I was working abroad and wife has young baby at home. In the past i have sold privately but you always get test pilots!

Just to qualify my 17000 miles shocker.

First 9000 where done by previous owner and I took it on a track day at about 16500.

Im trying hard to wear them out but they just wont.

Might be due to the fact that they are conti's and slightly harder rubber (I dont mind if they last longer and have less grip cos its more fun!)

Im gonna go off now and get rid of some rubber!
