Can anyone tell me what recommended specialist insurance companies are out there for Porsches?

Any help would be great.

Dunno about specialist insurance but I've had a stonking quote on my turbo from:

www.liverpoolvictoria.com

Contrary to popular belief they do not cover trackdays unless you are a member of the CSMA (Insurance dropped from £2,800 to £1,140 though which is nice ).

A broker called Performance Marques does a scheme which includes PCGB trackdays which I was on previously.

Thanks DAZ, I've heard plenty good stuff bout them but not sure they may insure what I'm looking at, worth a try though.

I tried Liverpool Vic the other night for the impending 965 purchase. Was exceptionally pleasantly suprised by the quote of £634 which is half what the TVR was...

I went through www.easycover.com and took up the cover with Quoteline Direct (the insurer is Chaucer).

I got class 1 comprehensive cover for me and Mrs Porky on a 3 year old Boxster for £471 (6 years no claims and I'm an old b*stard).

Hope this helps.

Tesco were quite cheap too (£495'ish)

LV do cover trackdays

They sold me a policy over the telephone and verbally confirmed it included trackday and Nurburg coverage. When the docs arrived it didn't include coverage, after many phone calls the senior risk assessor refused to cover me for trackdays due to the value of my car. During the discuissions it was confirmed that were I a member of the CSMA (Civil Service Motoring Association) I would automatically be covered. Unfortunately I was not eligible to join.

DAZ

Edited to say, a cracking looking CS you've got there.

Best price I could get for my 965 was £1800 and that's after a 20% discound for including my house insurance, and being a bloody nice chap. LV, wouldn't cover me because of my age and said they nolonger covered track days.

The car is a ROOCK. Tried Peart which knew about these cars, so promising, but couldn't insure it as it was too powerful!!

Has anyone insured a ROOCK or GEMBALLA or similar before and where??

Big T please tell us more about the car. Surely for insurance purposes you only have to give a list of mods,,bhp over standard spec and value to be insured?

Just insured my lhd 993RS with L&V today for £685 which has a Roock upgrade. They're not bothered about any upgrades except increase in engine capacity. Also, no requirements for alarms/trackers, can be kept anywhere (even on road) and no limited mileage. Best bit was by increasing the excess from £400 to £500 the premium dropped by £90.

Another happy switch from Peart to LV, saving myself £150 pa - this on a 993 Targa. No silly questions about amount of annual miles, Thatcham alarms, etc. They weren't interested in the fact that it has Tracker or the top of the range immobiliser - just straightforward, no-nonsense insurance, with additional saving because I have a house insurance policy with them.
Thank you, whoever it was on this forum who pointed me in this direction!

Hmmm,

wifey who was an underwritter says the reps for LV don't know what to wipe their arses with, so YMMV.

Whats the policy cover? who's made a claim and how did it go? pertinent questions I feel.

I know of one person who has made a claim through them for a stolen and unrecovered vehicle. Says the claim was settled efiiciently and to his satisfaction.

Sagaris is still on the cards if the final spec is as promised/my cup of tea

This is something that's come up and a change for a bit.
