I'm in the automotive industry and I was aghast when I first came across the Cayenne. However, I just drove one (Cay S) on Friday as part of a Benchmark ride and drive and I came away very impressed by the engineering.
I found the NVH ( Noive Vibration harshness) outstanding and the ride and handling for an "SUV" good too, remaining composed.
The imrpresssive thing for me is SOUND QUALITY, something people often confuse sound LEVEL.
Lexus and Lexus owners often do, often complaining about boomy sounding BMWs or burbley Porsches! However they are missing the point- perhaps it says something about their characters for liking insidiously silent car engines!
Anyway, the Porsche Cayenne V8 4.5 litre is very quiet - where it counts-even with the bonnet open- no nasty clatters, or high frequency whines- but comes through INTO the cabin is the lovely V8 burble seriously lacking in many less characterful cars and very hard to achieve- this kind of selective sound quality. I would go so far to say that the engine as mounted in the Cayenne sounds nicer then my 928 S4-which has alot of high frequency whines and clatters!

The only thing I would like to see is Ted awarding special stars to regular postees. That way we could all be like Melv and get 5 stars for effort !!Actually I don`t know if we could given he is milk monitor. Can I put my name down to be monitor next week Ted.

Is that really the BEST you can do, old boy?

Helen, it sounds like you are very pleased with your Cayenne...I remenber on another forum you were getting excited about the arrival of your Gt3 and looking forward to using it on track days.
Is that idea out of the window? just wondered what you may be using on track days instead?

isn't that a little harsh Melv?
A cup car on track with a driver of your abilities is likely to leave many a Boxster in it's wake. surely?
