I'm afraid I really can't see the point.

I've supported Boxa.net from the beginning. But I don't see there is any point continuing.

It is quite obvious that now I'm known as an "official" of PCGB (so how does Assistant Register Sec qualify me as an official? - I wasn't even qualified to go to the conference) then anything I say will automatically be pulled to bits or ridiculed.

I'm not a board member, or party to whatever goes on between other officials in the club (e.g. Helen and Bob) but Boxa.net don't seem to understand that.

I can't see the point in logging in just to have an argument (especially when the people talked about are my friends i.e. Helen and Nic).

A shame as I like to be active in Porsche online forums, but the uphill struggle with Boxa.net is too much.

See you on here, PCGB, Rennlist, DDK, 986Board.com, Pelican Parts etc. But for the forseeable future, not Boxa.net

Flameproof suit on

I tried Boxa.net for a while, I formed my opinions and now post on PH instead. Draw your own conclusions!

Then you seriously need to reconsider your priorities, my good man.

I tried Boxa.net for a while and kept getting offers for 2-for-1 his'n'her cuts, now I post on PH.

Mark,

to be fair you felt the need to respond and stick up for Nic and as a consequence you took some of the flack. It's no point playing the "I'm not even a real official, woe is me card now". If you really think that the people on Boxa.net are that small minded to hold it against you then maybe it's you with the issue and not them!

Your definition of fair is obviously different to mine.
Editing peoples quoted posts to make it read something different? Oh what a laugh...

I'm not going through all this again, so no more on the subject from me.

come on mark we miss you.your very welcome.

like me you tend to tell it how it is or how you see it. which is great when everyone agrees with you but means when they don't you take a lot of flack.

look what happened to me on the PCGB site when i said i thought the history anniverasry artical should have been published in a series as i found it heavy reading. i got flamed for daring to critisis the PP.

There are lots of people who don't give 2 hoots about PCGB. They just want to enjoy their car and have a bit of banter with like minded people.

Yeah I read the argument thread and all I can remember is bono's edited posting and the reference to the captain's chair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe in everybody being able to make a positive contribution.

Of course it needs a strong sense of humour at times and a thick skin but you're a man, you can manage that can't you?

Mark, you have a disagreement with one person then back-off, you can't blame the whole of boxa.net for that. If everyone reacted that way I would have been outa there during the "PSM wars".

Not everyone there is against the PCGB, I'm very active in my region and don't hide it, but I'm also willing to point out the club's failings. I think more open and active debate (and yes, disagreements/arguments) are needed for the good of both PCGB and boxa.net.

Come on Mark you have to be prepared to but up with a bit of flaming.

The middle ground of "that" thread was that "sometimes" the PCGB is a little bit too closed shop and has too cosy a relationship with Porsche Cars to the deteriment of many of the members of the club. The club should be challenging Porsche cars on service from OPCs/RMS etc (as they have now finally started to do so). The image is all wrong (remember being told to stay away from the Porsche parade!!!).

As a member of PCGB myself I welcomed your valuable input onto boxa.net as being someone who was a real enthusiast by being a RS.

However, by suggesting that everyone on boxa.net is narrow minded is a sad reflection on you not us.

Alex

PS I thought you might have done me the courtesy (as an ally) of replying to my email asking you to hang around

...slightly unfair. I seam to remember you offering to gate crash their track day. The whole hairdresser thing is bound to wind them up.

I post there and i have a 996 not a boxster. They put up with me and i enjoy the banter. There are some strong charactors over there but that is what makes it interesting. I find most of it is tongue in cheek and as long as you are prepared to take as good as you give and not take yourself too seriously then you'll be fine.

As with any forum if you go bounding in there with my car is better than yours then you are bound to come in for some flack.

....there are always a few that go too far. I think the important point here is that it was moderated and deleted.

Ok ok...

I didn't realise it was just Roger.
There seemed to be a lot of people who were all too willing to jump on the bandwagon. I admit I was wrong to say "boxa.net", however as the moderator was one of the main protagonists (antagonists?) it was easy to see him as representative of the Boxa.board as a whole.

There were several posters who had a contradictory stance to Roger, sorry to tar you with the same brush.

The thing is, I wasn't "defending" PCGB, or Nic. I was merely trying to say that the whole issue was not representative of "PCGB v Helen" and that Nic, Helen and I were friends. Nic posted a small factual correction to Helen's post, and was basically met with a tirade of abuse. I only pointed out that a PCGB directors input was often requested, and that as soon as one posts that was the welcome they get.

Then I got sucked in.

Alex, I hadn't replied to your email as I was still undecided what to do. Apologies.

I was thinking why should I log in again? I seemed to be as popular as a cotton plantation worker at a KKK meeting, so why put myself through it? I don't need the hassle. Rogers posts above just about decided it for me (If I say black does he say white? - What is it with trying to goad me in to posting?)

Maybe I'll log in again soon, but please stop treating me as the enemy. We are all enthusiasts of a particular car - surely we should have more in common to discuss than to be wasting time picking an argument?

i stand by all comment about the PCGB i made on boxa.net.as a female Porsche owner i find the club very sexist and elite.
