Do a forum search for "LPG Cayenne" and you'll probably find the guy who's had this done. It was important to have an installation that includes Flashlube.
Yep, that would be me. Flash lube apparantly stops the valves from frying, however it uses alot of it!! cant remember where i had it done, somewhere in surrey. Its also a PIA trying to find places that sell lpg, ive just come back from eurodisney and it was available at every station, but not in rip off britain it seems!!I have an 90 litre tank, aprox £55 to fill. Urban 200 miles, motorway sensible speed 350 miles prob 380. Certainly paid for itself over the 35k miles since install. What a machine the car is, this weekend we done a 500 mile round trip, 2 kids and 2 adults in offortless comfort for 70 odd quid!

I'm still trying to get my head around the logic of buying a 4.5 V8 and then putting an LPG conversion on it...
Why? Logic says it's a great idea if you're doing enough miles, maybe it's emotion that's harder to get your head/heart around?steve singh said:
I guess I'm assuming that the performance drop off will be noticeable...which it might not be...
A? performance drop off in a Cayenne, are you serious? There is a very very small drop, but honestly if you are concerned about performance dont buy a 2 ton 4x4, get a gt3 or similar. If you want effortless, reliable cheapish comfort, its a no brainer. I have the desmo and r8 for frills, Cayenne is for lugging the kids around not hooning.steve singh said:

Where to start!!errrr.......wanting a big engined, powerful 4x4 (ie - A Cayenne!) and space but not wanting 14mpg at £1.40 a Litre! He want's to pay £0.75 a litre insead. His "logic" is that he can have a Cayenne but get the equivilant of 28mpg.
I like you ever so confused question......frankly, if you can't see this; I give up.

+1Surely if you can afford a Cayenne S you can afford the fuel for it? No? The couple cents you will save on a daily basis shouldn't really matter...unless you are a taxi driver and drive hundreds of miles.

I wonder if we can trust the government to keep the Tax low on LPG??
I think LPG has seen its prime and if the tax goes up on it I dont think it would be worth the effort.
Electric is the new LPG IMO with the government.

I think you are right. I give it 3 years max before cam cranks the tax handle.I think LPG has seen its prime and if the tax goes up on it I dont think it would be worth the effort.

EU legislation restricts the tax rate on LPG so it will always come in significantly less than petrol or diesel and HMG will get little say in the matter (unless the EU changes it's mind of course). It's sold as a "green" fuel and as far as the government is concerned, "green is good and should be encouraged" so it will stay noticeably cheaper for some time yet.
As far as "if you can afford a Cayenne, you can afford the fuel" goes, I can afford a V8 Range Rover and a 911 Turbo but I'm not stupid enough to pay through the nose when I don't have to.

Just seems strange to buy a huge 4x4 and then worry about the running cost - if that is the primary motivator there are probably more suitable alternatives which would also cost a lot less to maintain/run outside of fuel?
Personally I'd be a tad self-conscious driving around in a Porsche Cayenne with two filler caps as it would just feel so pretentious - not having a go but just explaining my earlier comment.
Anyhow life is about opinions and different outlooks - thinking one view is the only view is narrow minded, so I'm sure everyone who has done an LPG conversion on a 4x4 has valid reasons.
