944 2.5 Lux - replacement engine cost.

Could anyone tell me approx. how much it would cost for a replacement engine to be supplied and fitted to 944 2.5 lux?. Are replacement engines readily available?.

Apparently crankshaft has seized.

It is a car that is going cheap (obviously), just depends how much to put right.

Any advice/expected cost info. would be appreciated

I've seen a few of these engines on ebay for about 500 quid.

Porscha-part sold me a decent second hand unit for about £1500 a year ago, apart from needing a new water pump 9 months in its been fine. TBH would have got a new pump on it when it was fitted but circumstances went against this happening.

What exactly is wrong with the crank that it's seized? I've got a spare crank that you could put in it, and just rebuild the bottom end.

That would be cheaper than a whole new engine anyway.

...you might as well drop the 2.7 in there instead of the 2.5 if you can find one.

Or a turbo... Of course, you'll have to also replace the gearbox, brakes, suspension...

But think of the extra power

Probably best to keep it standard then....
