RE: LHD Tuscans
Discussion
Have bought the new "Sport Auto" (german sportscar magazine) today with an article about TVR engagement in germany. There they wrote, that selling LHD Tuscans will start at the end of the year. And if TVR sell enough LHD versions, they will also develop an LHD version of the Tamora.
Very very good.
Very very good.
You might like to buy your BLACKPOOL car now before it is too late!!!
LHD & US spec'd TVR's and in the future all TVR's are going to be made a long way away from Blackpool and it will not be in Malaysia either!!
The deal has been done.
Even with the high profile partner on board the TVR's as we know them will die.

Go on - tell us more!

Numerous individuals and organisations (naming no names) approach the factory every single month trying to weedle their way in and buy out TVR. So far, they all get a cup of Yorkshire tea and a digestive biscuit followed by a nice tour of the factory and if the latter isn't enough to scare them off then they get kicked out...
I hope the LHD story is carried out and TVR do sell a few more cars in Europe BUT I am certain that they will need to keep their quality really up to scratch.
I have had two Griff 500s and now a Tamora here in Germany and while the styling, noise, and acceleration have won much praise the attention to detail in terms of quality has not. I am talking about people I know with 911s, Boxsters and M Roadster i.e. potential customers. I am certain they will not be prepared to change from their boring but high quality German machines into Blackpool´s Best unless they are convinced about integrity/quality/reliability etc.
If TVR can get these issues right they will go down a storm here. Improvements in these areas would not harm their UK sales either of course.
However I do not want them to be too successful otherwise every Tom, Dick, and Heinrich will be driving one and I won`t feel quite so smug with my exotic Tamora here!

I don't think TVR will need to improve quality to be a success in Europe. Why should it be any different than the UK? We all complain about the quality etc and yet every time there's a new car at a motorshow we slap out deposits down and hope they get it right this time! TVR's attitude to it's customers and it's dealers is dreadful but they don't care, they sell all the cars they make and they are successfull. One day I'm sure they'll be made to pay for it but.....
I personally can't see why TVR aren't willing to sell in the USA. It could be the company's saving. The UK market it depressed and so it Europe. It sounds like no more TVRs will be going to Japan, Australia or NZ unless they sort out the crash-testing.
What I keep wondering is how Lotus are so successful in the USA? The build quality and reliability of modern Loti isn't that much better than TVR and all TVRs currently engines meet US emissions standards. I don't even think airbags are required are they?
At the end of the day LHD production isn't going to make that much difference to TVR sales, I'm sure.
