Service bonnet won't stay shut
Discussion
The service bonnet keeps popping open at the "pointy" corners. We have fitted new pins & catches & had several attempts at adjusting (as have Track V Road) but still it pops open. It's not dangerous but is very unsightly.
Has anyone found a better way of keeping the pesky pointy bits fixed down?

Jayne,
OK you've done the obvious job to cure the problem.
I had exactly the same issue after I'd finished my main bonnet hinge conversion.
In the end, I adjusted the main bonnet to 'sit' further back within the constraints of the 'opening'. This does mean you have to faff with adjustment of the ball catches by the w/screen - scuttle.
I believe that any pressure exerted by the main bonnet on the service bonnet causes the latter to 'pop'. This is made worse with a bit of heat from the engine - particularly when crawling in traffic.
It's not hard to do, but is time consuming!

Hiya Jayne, I had similar , I ended up wasting hours trying to adjust by spinning ball holder round and round. In the end I got fed up and squeezed the ball socket with some water pump pliers . All held tightly in place , even on the bumpiest ride..
They do get slack with heat after a while,
