Howdy chaps,

So, I had my new wheels done and I decided to give them a power shower with my new Electric hose. Super powerful piece of kit. I did however go OTT on the water.

Since then, every time I start the car, I hear 6 click noises. Kind of loud thuds but stops at 6. Can you guys shed any light?

It is starting to get on my nerves.
Thanks

It sounds like it could be the stepper motor in the air box which controls the heat into the cabin. Not sure how this would be connected to heavy jetting unless you stuck the jet into the area of the scuttle panel? I would either leave it to dry out or take off the bonnet and have a look into the housing which I think from memory is on the passenger side.

Not much good now but I wouldn't use a power washer on a TVR They can be extremely harsh in the wrong hands.

Ever caught you hand in the jet!?!? It's not a pleasant experience. I'd save the pressure washer for the daily run around and cleaning the patio.

so roll me further bitch

Yep, TVR's were never designed for such brutal treatment

Thanks for your replies guys. As I got my wheels done in Spectraflare I just wanted them extra clean. Never use that on the body work though. I did spray the hell out of the wheels and discs though. Still happening the noises. Will take it in if I can't see the problem. Cheers

Still waiting to get into a garage but I took my bonnet off today and the noise is coming from the black plastic box beside the Aircon. On the passengers side. What unit is that? My guide book is at my parents.

Seems it was my heat flap that has come loose. Can't confirm this is the problems of water damage.

Yep, I'd agree, sounds like the heater flap stepper motor.

Search on here and you'll find a couple of threads on where it is and how to repair/replace.

Fairly easy access through the "hot side" humpy box thing that sits nearest the engine/manifolds. You'll need to remove wiper arms, large nuts from wiper spindles (27mm?), two self tappers and then ease scuttle panel off car and from under windscreen lower seal.
The 'humpy box' thing contains the heater matrix. Held in with self tappers and silicone. Ease off carefully breaking the silicone seal and pull it forwards away from the front bulkhead.

The stepper motor will be seen in cavity/ducting below heater matrix - should be connected to GRP flap with a metal crank....Might resurrect itself with a spray of WD-40 on motor and electrical multi-plug.

I use a jetwash on all my cars and have for years. The main thing is to have a good quality one with a high flow rate so loads of water. Be gentle and you can get the car nice and clean before washing...

Really good for the wheels
