Mk1 Door Control Module Fault
Discussion
Hi all,
One of my door control modules has failed.
Brief explanation:
When either door button is pressed (passenger side inside or outside one) the window drops half way as it should but the door doesn't open. If pressed again once or twice, the door then opens but the window drops (almost) to the bottom. If the door is closed again, the window goes up to the halfway point and stops there. I've checked the microswitch on the B pillar and this is working. The 'door open' message clears from the dashboard too.
If I swap the control units left to right the error moves too with exactly the same symptoms. I'm guessing this has to rule out it being the optical encoder on the window motor?
I called TVR Parts who offer an exchange but they have no spare units in stock and are looking at a minimum three to four week lead time for repairs. I can't get hold of Paul Smith and from what I gather he is only carrying out trade work these days. I've just sent the box off to Electroversal Circuit Board Repair (as suggested on an earlier thread on PH) but they cannot find a fault. They did explain this doesn't mean there isn't one but all they can do is test the board itself and certain components on it not real world operation on a vehicle.
The big question is does anyone know of a company that carries out repairs on these units and/or offer an exchange? I would prefer to have one repaired than buy a used one from a breakers that could fail the week after it's fitted. Failing that does anyone have one they would like to part with? My unit is the earlier model although I am told the later ones do work but they move the window to a different position.
Thanks in advance,
Andy

These guys were repairing a Tuscan dash and posted on the Tuscan FB page. May be worth a try. http://pythonracing.co.uk/electrical/
