The boot lid on my TVR TUSCAN is not opening. when depressing the Tuscan badge nothing happens. There’s no usual noise from the solenoid. It’s always been weak and required 3/4 attempts to get the lid open but now it’s failed. Any ideas on how to get in manually? I desperately need to fill her up.

Thanks

I am not familiar with the Tuscan so cannot help.
Even if I could, this isn’t the info most would want posted on a public forum.
Hopefully someone will PM you, or otherwise a garage may be able to help?

Lobster, old sport,

Most folks will be reluctant to even PM you - your history on PH is hardly extensive!

Can you not 'phone previous owner and ask for access method? Or contact a TVR specialist and ask the same Q?

Indeed, most wont tell you for obvious reasons.

Once you are in, there is a fix for the button that involves a 2p piece IIRC

I would love to drive to you all to show you my lovely TVR Tuscan and proof of vehicle ownership. But I don’t have enough fuel because I can’t get in the boot to fill her up!!!!

Joking aside, Don’t worry, the guys at Bespoke Performance know me well and I have now spoken to them. I was caught out on the weekend and they were closed so I thought I would reach out to the wider group of Pistonheads.

Hi BlueG33

OK. Managed to get inside the boot!!
What’s the trick with a 2p coin? I’m intrigued.

Thanks
PS. Has anyone any knowledge of replacing the boot latch solenoid. I’m pretty sure that’s what’s failed in this case.

....As far as I'm aware, my boot solenoid is still the original - as fitted in 2004.
I've never replaced it.
What I have done is taken the solenoid out of the car and lubricated it. At the same time, I took the time to dribble some oil down the 'associated' bowden cables and lubricated the linkage from the solenoid to the catch. Common sense maintenance.

I did make sure the badge button was activating the switch when pushed. That contact position is adjustable using the M4(?) nylocs that secure the badge/spring assembly.

When I upgraded the alarm the boot release function was added to the new key fob, well worth doing.
