My Tuscan was serviced last wee and ever since the aircon has been making a loud vibrating noise when it turns on and off. I just phoned the service dept and they told me that it's normal and all the aircon units installed in TVRs have this trait. Is this right?

I never really used mine until a few months ago and it didn't work. I assumed it needed to be recharged. When it was checked during the service (in Blackpool) it was found to be faulty and replaced with a new unit. It works, but makes a noise every so often when turning on or off which I've been told all Tuscans with aircon do. I would think the same unit is used on the Cerbera? I wonder if TVR are telling the whole truth... hmmm.....

I get a slight thump and drop of about 100RPM at idle
when I engage aircon, and an almost inaudible
thump when it disengages. No noise when it is running
(but refeshingly cold air).

That's how mine was before it was 'fixed'. It was never cold air, now it's like ice...

That's what's happening, accept it's definately audible sometimes, othertimes it's almost silent... aren't handbuilt cars brilliant!

I do get a drop in rpm and when idling I can hear the main fans going on and off intermittently but no other noises.

One query - what cold air I do get only comes from the vents below the steering wheel whereas if I have the heaters on the only warm air comes from the vents below the windscreen, neither come from both the upper and lower vents. Is this normal?

Yep, same here which is perfectly normal.

Starting to sound like the factory is trying to fob me off

As for the two vents below the steering wheel, I've been told these are not connect to either the heater or aircon, just 'fresh' air from the outside.

The other vents work fine with the heater and aircon...
