Hi there, I don't suppose anyone has come up with a permanent way of keeping the footwell carpet on the passenger side in place (the bit that hides the bulkhead). I have used a spray glue and velcro over the years and as soon as the weather heats up so everything comes unstuck so I'm looking at something a bit more permanent! All advice and suggestions gratefully received.

Cheers

Spray glue goes on really thinly, I recommend getting a tube of good old Evo-stick and giving that a go.

Good luck

Ive just recarpeted a tuscan mk1 and the passenger footwell was a nightmare because of the shapes and overhang. So i made a board that fits the space tightly and glued the carpet to that and just left the small piece at the top loose to be glued to the firewall. Worked so much better than trying to arrange bits around all the structure

Thanks for the replies …I’ve put some evostick on and will see how I get on. Carpet starting to look a little faded so will re reupholstering in next year or so…interesting to hear that there’s still no ‘fix’ to the footwell problem after all these years 🤔

I've had the same problem but got some double sided carpet tape from a carpet fitter and its held for years.

I went for the nuclear option and used a tin of impact adhesive (painting it on). It's not coming off now!

Neil/OP...and others replying to this thread.

I answered a similar Q in the TVRCC Tuscan forum.

I too got fed up having to re-glue the more vertical part of the footwell carpet. Decided failure was because that part of the carpet was being 'stuck' (or not!) to a small contact area - i.e. the heater ducting/bit of grp bulkhead.

My solution was to make a small hole (3mm) with a soldering iron in the top corners of the carpet. Then, using appropriate cable ties, I was able to lift and tie the cable ties to the ducting that runs transversely on the bulkhead. It is an invisible solution, unless you place your head right into the footwell and look up.
The only part of the carpet piece that is glued, is the area where full contact with the grp is maintained - i.e. the first 150mm (?) up from the floor.
