hi all, i currently own a lotus elise and want to trade it in for second hand tuscan, the elise has been trouple free for the past 18 months but want something with more power and a better exhaust note. having read some of the post here regarding engine problems and software failures, am i right in coming to this conclusion?

* buy the lastest model i can find for the price.
* go for a higher milage one as apposed to a lower milage one
* make sure the car has had all the enigne problems fixed.
* buy from a local dealer.

was wondering though, if i see a car with a low milage and it has not been back to tvr for all the engine problems to be fixed, am i right to thinking that in due course that car to will suffer some sort of enighe problem and need to go back for a engine rebuild?
i am new to tvr so dont know how many tuscans have neded to go back to rebuild the engine, maybe only a very small number of cars but having read through the posts on here i get the impression that most tuscans have had to go back for the engine problems to be fixed, in which case i should only go for the cars that have had the problems but have had them fixed.

does this seen to sound correct? any replies will be greater appreciated.

From what I understand most tuscan have not had an enginge rebuild, or will probably not need one. But some have had more than one. It has made me a bit nervous about how to buy a good one.

There have been a proportion that have had problems, but not all related to age.

Have a good look through all the Tuscan threads, find one you like, negotiate like hell and get a good warranty, you won't (probably :-) ) regret it.

I know quite a few lotus owners and a TVR is no worse in general reliability stakes, possibly better, (BUt I've had 2 griff's)
