Anyone had any experience of getting soaked footwells and boots?

My mats are waterlogged (Drying as we speak) and the bottom of the boot is sodden too with no obvious reason why!

I just got the car a week ago so latest seals etc I presume...

Oh the joys!

Had the WET boot issue with std 'slow' Tuscan - Not yet found problem - was directed at rear light seals but they look good. (These are different on the 'S'anyway). Not checked reg plate lamp seals yet, will let you know.

Wet boot syndrome. Saved my nuts off to buy a used tuscan and when i left it out in the rain the boot, like yours, was sodden. I was gutted - all that money and it leaked. The joys of TVR ownership! I eventually found where the leak was coming from. It is where the fuel spout/nozzle was sealed (or not sealed in my case)to the fibreglss bodyshell. When the rain came off the boot lid into the car boot gutter it was simply going straight through the gap where the petrol cap is. I simply resealed the gap/hole with clear silicone, problem solved! Hope i have been of some help.

Martin - Thanks for the tip - Will go look NOW ! (Was the side of the boot below the filler wet on yours, as mine is bone dry???)

Hope the 'saving' was worth it. I part x'd my fantastic '97 Chimaera 500 (My first love - New owner of R105GMA please handle with care) for my '01 Tuscan (begged, borrow'd and sold my body for the cash) and apart from missing the 5 litre growl can say I am over the moon with the Tuscan (water boot included)
Hope yours is as good?!

The side of the filler, like yours, was bone dry. Silly as it may seem i used an empty washing up bottle (Blue Peter moment Coming on!)filled with water and forced it all round the junction between the body and the filler cap. I could then see the water running through the hole, down the side of the carpet surrounded tube and drowning the bottom of the boot!
Changing the subject i opted out of my company scheme (vauxhall Astra!) and took the car allowance - went and bought a tuscan - madness but great, although its presently sitting at Kerridges while they sort out a very noisy knocking engine problem. Push bike to work on Monday!!!

Cheers guys. Back lights are dry but I'll check out the fuel filler area.

Not too sure why the footwells are wet. Just dried out the mats and they smell like dead sheep

Oh the joys!

PS. Wheelspun the car in third this morning! Yes I drove on ice!!!

Martin - Will try the blue peter approach (just as soon as the missus does some washing up!). Seriously thanks, and TOP RESPECT for the opt out. I take my 'beastie' to the office every blue moon (when the sun shines) an my boss just frowns. I think he prefers my Volvo S60 (Still he is French, so probably thinks the epitome of motoring is the 2CV)...

Just my 2p but have a similar problem in my cerb, drivers side footwell sodden, told by my dealer that fibreglass shell can flex and small cracks appear, I presume you r going to take it back to the dealer so they can get it on a ramp and see what is going on. Spent ages on my hands and knees trying to find out where the leak was coming from - with no success. Therefore taking back to dealer to dehumidify and sort problem out free of charge. There are some threads on cerbera postings, not sure how much of this is relevant to the Tuscan but I'd be interested in knowing what they diagnose.

Best of luck

Wet foot wells can be caused by the rear screen leaking, the early ones were, how can I phrase this, 'not the best fit'! Mine when fitted carefully is fine (especially now I have replaced the rubber seals) but if put on slightly wrong, then you can get a gap at the side which lets water in - if this is the case then the rear shelf will be damp as well, the water drips on to the rear shelf, then runs forward to behind the seats, and forward in to the footwells from there.
Also the window can leak, make sure the window goes up to the roof seal and doesn't lift the foor as this can cause a leak at the window or even from the front of the roof. Also if the A pillar trim isn't on properly then water can get behind it and get round the glass and in to the car.

Dont worry too much though, it can all be fixed, it is just a matter of tracking down where it comes in and then fixing it. There are some ways of doing this, such as using talcum powder, the leak will wash it away so you can see where it comes in! I have also heard of companies using ultraviolet water and one of those nice purple disco lights, but that sounds expensive for home use
