For what it is worth here are my times in a std Tuscan last Sunday at Santa Pod. They are on 16" tyres only 225s.

Reaction - 1.124 (Very slow!!)
60 Foot - 2.187
1/8 Mile - 8.456 secs, 88.69 mph
1/4 Mile - 12.837 secs, 112.37 mph

Yes my reaction time was slow at over 1 secs. With practice on a hot day you might just get 12 secs. I only did three runs but the start is very tricky, but I didn't need to feather the throttle in first just feed the power in slighty and not start with too many revs.

Have fun folks

Can understand the comment about my being able to drive or not and having had 7 TVRs and quite a lot of other performance cars still does not mean I can drive, I agree.

Glad you didn't take offence- none was meant, and you obviously know what I mean!

But at Santa Pod I could not get any traction whatsoever. When I said off the line I am talking nearly one third of the track. I obviusly feathered the throttle but anything like more than half throttle resulted in wheelspin. My best time at Santa Pod was 13.8 the 13.1 was at York. My top speeds were always 109 plus which was faster than most on the day.
What times did you both get at Santa Pod, and at what speeds? Having spoken to others on the day I was there everyone said the track had hardly any grip at all. I feel the only way a tuscan is going to get a 0 60 time in under 4 seconds would have to be with the new close ratio gear box.

Well, if everyone else was having problems, I'm not sure why you're concerned about your (relatively!) slow time. The day I was there with Andrew's RR Tuscan it was very cold and slightly damp, with a significant headwind. Due to the tyres being so cold it was very hard to get traction in first & second like you say- it looked like he was having more problems than I did, maybe because the Tuscan has more low-down torque.

By doing long 2nd gear burnouts in the staging area I finally managed a 13.0, which I was very happy with given the temps. I'm sure mid/high twelves would have been possible on a hotter day.

As for 0-60 in less than four seconds, this will have been on a hot day, with a massive burn out, and REALLY grippy tarmac (e.g. a runway), and by abusing the clutch & gearbox. Given it's fairly easy to do mid 4's I'm sure it's possible.

The close ratio gearbox makes it easier because I think you can do 60mph in first gear, so you save that whole gear change.

Oops - I also meant to say that we only found out late in the day from a regular that the pool of ammonia for the burnouts (which is what I was used to at Avon Park) was ACTUALLY water! Oops! According to the oldies, this means the front tyres leave a wet patch for the rear to spin up on off the line.

So we just did burnouts before the water, and drove around it - made significant difference.

But in the end, track days are about a million times more interesting no?

Sorry to bring this one up again, but where/which magazine/test was this 0-60 of 3.9 achieved?

All magazines I look in quote the Tuscan S around 4.2 to 4.4 to 60 and over 9 seconds to 100...

It was achieved at Bruntinthorpe when they tested it along with the Tamora in the Tuscan S Black press car S6 TVR which they borrowed for the weekend in London afterwards.

Oooh..

What did it manage to 100 - or did they not publish that time?

Sorry - i've been using the 3.9 time when chatting to my mates, and he keeps telling me I'm talking crap, and quoting me 4.4/4.2 (forget which). When I looked in my Top Gear and Autocar mags he was right..

Those mags give a 9.2 to 100, but i'm sure someone said 8.9.. or maybe even 8.1 I heard once? Or maybe i'm going mad/dreaming..
