Over the last couple of days I have noticed a loud metallic-like rattling in the roofing area. it sounds like a metal rod rattling in a pipe and is quite pronounced. Has anyone heard of this before?

I had something similar. The dealer fixed it at the last service. Don't know what they did, but it wasn't anything major ie no new parts or additional labour charge.

Sounds like your roof pins and pin guides are rattling. Take you roof off and check the guides on the roof on either side haven't come loose. You'll need an allen key to tighten them up.

Cheers,

Andy.

Undo the front roof clip. If the rattle stops - that's your problem!

I had something similar - we were convinced that there was something loose inside the roof panel. Dealer had 3 goes at it, and the factory one. Turned out to be the push in button in the handbrake was rattling - try holding your thumb on the handbrake button when its making the noise. Worth a try anyways.
