They are actually relays & there is one for each fan although they are unlikely to both go, you could try swapping them over. The fans do come on at different temperatures 92 Deg.C. for the offside fan & 96 Deg.C for the nearside fan. The problem could also be the temperature sensor to the ECU which is located under the airbox closest to the bulkhead, disconnection of this sensor should put both the fans on when the engine is running.

the push connectors (under bonnet where fans connect to main wiring loom) are Cr@p and tend to go bad, clean them may well do the trick

Also the connector on the sensor can get some corrosion and prevent fans coming on. good luck.

Once you've cleaned the connector smear some vaseline on there to prevent future corrosion.

Does anybody know if you could have different temperatur sensor, or make any changes so the fans are coming in earlier at maybe 85°C?!
Thanks

Yes, there is a Rover sensor that fits.
TVR dealers in Preston Lancs have been testing one with a willing customer.

They advised me when I was having overheating problems and said that it comes on a little earlier than the TVR one.
I changed to that but still had problems which were resolved by Christopher Neil.

I should have the part number at home but am away at the moment.
Try Preston 01772 201455
I think that it was only about 12 quid as well so was cheeper

Just for information, the Land Rover Sensor that I referred to was as follows;-
Material Part No. ETC8496
Cost 10,93 + VAT

My understanding is that it operates at a lower temperature to the TVR original at 87°C
