Always wanted one of these. Best looking & most interesting Rover ever made, in my humble opinion.

Ooooh big shame about the burnout coupe!!

The car is a mid to late L so it got the facelift bonnet, K plates were the older more smooth grille (which I think looks cleaner actually)

I'm pretty sure a Set of polyflex bushes are a necessity, the only bushes replaced so far have been on the rear arms for an mot
I prefer the earlier bonnet/grill too it's why i was wondering if it had been changed.

Mines got the polyflex bushes all round it does make a difference. The ride is a little harder than the standard setup but it still rides better than a modern car. Well worth the cost if your planning on keeping it.

I used to see one of the N FDH (Japan) Turbos quite regularly but i've not seen it for a year or two now. Think that was the last time i saw a turbo.
I also preferred the early grill rather than the later "corporate" Rover one. Here's mine.

I fitted some MG ZS 16" Hairpin Alloy Wheels to it with a slightly higher tyre profile. The car in that trim was the fastest I've ever driven in a bog standard Rover of any description. I had no idea how good the Rover T-Series in turbocharged form could be until the firm I worked for changed their car use for business policy. I could no longer use my own MG Montego Turbo and they supplied hire cars for Business trips. One dull rainy November very early morning, the keys to a Rover hire car were put through my letter box. Soon after six am I set off for the long journey up north in the grey Rover which looked just like any other grey car on that horrible winter morning.

Five miles later when I joined the M5 Motorway I was pleasantly surprised how well the car smoothly, quickly and impressively picked up speed. One hundred miles into the journey I pulled off into a service area and the first thing I did was lift the bonnet and look at the engine to see what was responsible for how well the car went. The little Rover was a 420 and that was my first sight and experience of the T-Series Petrol Turbo. That was about twenty years ago and I've had one or more Rover T-Series Turbos in my family ever since. With a growing family, a two door coupe was less useful. I now prefer the later 620ti cars with the wasted spark electrics and Type B Torsen differential.

Had a '94 214SLi as my second car and liked it. The build quality - interior and body panel fit and finish - was excellent, the interior was plush compared with contemporary Escorts, Astras, etc and the engine very revvy and responsive, just lacking torque.

Loads of room under the bonnet made the car easy to work on. Only sold it when I emigrated.

Don't see many older Rovers around these days, just the odd few 25s, 45s and 75s.
