Rover 25 stering rack trouble

I have a rover 25 1.6 2003 reg I love it but unfortunately it needs a new stering rack which I managed to get off of an mg zr but I never thought to check the size of the engine the mg was when I got the stering rack off of it will it fit my rover anyway or can the size of its engine being different mean that it won't fit onto my car and I'll need to try and find another one that will? Would be very grateful if somebody could tell me this thanks x

Hopefully one of the mods will move it to the MG rover sub forum or general gassing. You might get a better response somewhere like MGrover.org.
Iirc most of the 25s sold were 1.4 and they are the same block as the 1.6, just overbored iirc, so chances are it is the same.
You could try putting it into the parts checker on eurocarparts and try different engine sizes, see if it comes back with a different part number...
