There you go, win win situation. You get a reliable Mini (that'd probably be a bit quicker as well) and I get room for a KV6 and some money to do it with. wink

You could always ditch your single SU for a twin SU manifold modified to take a pair of TDM850 carb's. It's what my 1380 ran on for years. Never had the car dyno'd but it was quicker than my turbo. driving

I like your thinking, but the priority at the moment is to get it running smoothly before any mods follow thumbup

I still think you'd be better off with the Rover. She's trouble free, reliable and less rusty (from the counds of things) just as quick and cheaper to insure than a Mini as well. wink

Rare there are 41 left accoring to that website. That's loads and parts are easy to come by because of the Honda link. wink

Well in twenty four hours time a potential Rover replacement ends on eBay. Kev' (formally Kev' Van of Death) wants to fully restore the SD3 and take her to shows next year. A much better for the car than me getting my grinder out eh?

If it all goes through Kev' lives up the road so there will be regular updates. wink

So another quick update. Kev sold his Volvo to pay for the Rover. He got a £200 deposite and a cheque for £300 on a Monday. Friday he finds out the cheque has bounced and tries to find the chap who bought the car. Fails to and reports it missing presumed stolen. The car left the country for Croatia on the Tuesday. In the mean time the guy who was offering me the next car is being patient with me as I'm being understanding with Kev.

The following Monday Kev's Volvo is stopped at Dover and the driver held for forteeen hours waiting to be interviewed. The cheque bounced because he has a limit of £250 per cheque and had forgotten. An honnest mistake rather than a disappearing act. That was a couple of weeks ago and the car I wanted next is now on eBay the guy couldn't wait any longer. frown

Got a renewal quote from Post Office insurance yesterday. It's gone down from £2172 to £1795 but the excess has gone from £300 to £500. scratchchin

I don't think they want me to be their customer anymore. Because I have taken a hit with my salery and the cost of everything else has gone up I don't think I'll be renewing.

Got the Meerkats on the case and the top five quotes were from £660 to £812 all with £250 excess. I wonder if I can get a discount if I'm quoted in they're advertising saying "I saved over £1000 compared to my renewal quote with......"? No harm in asking eh? wink

P.S I didn't get to do the sills yet and the gritters are on their way so I'd better get my arse in gear. Also the clutch only slips in third gear so it hasn't been done yet either as it's an engine out job, split the block from the box on a bench and swear a lot because I don't have a locater tool and the spark plug socket I used when I did the clutch on my Fiat is probably the wrong size.

The adventures continue. wink

Hate to say it but she has a point. Will the SD3 handle 200+bhp? It's got Morris Minor front suspension and brakes held together with crazyglue. frown

Even my man from Lotus has doubts.

With the Tomcat engine and bits due to finish I decided to have another look. Still no bids with ten minutes to go. I was about to bid when I noticed at the end of the listing...

"Sorry now Sold".

...Bugger! The chap got £650 for all the bits in the end and to be honnest I wouldn't have felt very honnest if I won it all for £100 anyway.

Just went on a "clasic" car insurance site to see how much my £500 Rover would be. The prices ranged from £1,795 to.....

I think I'll stick to £550 thanks. wink
