why do I feel that this is rather against the whole spirit of a sopbox anything?!

I think a lot of it is in answer to safety - didn't someone roll their's last year. What with the marshal being killed last year too, I don't suppose Goodwood want any injuries this year, however slight. It will be amusing to see such a hi-tech lo-tech device though.

not sure Ted...I know Prodrive and McClaren entered really high tech ones last year as well....I just think its another chance for those with money to show of their engineering brilliance (which isnt a bad thing unless you dont have the dough I guess!)

When I went down to Cooper garages last year they talked of the one they were building, apparently using old fashioned techniques no CAD etc, not sure how they did. I was under the impression they were all supposed to be built to limited budgets.

I was told a certain formula one team tried to use bits from the F1 car saying they were from the scrap parts and therefore only worth scrap value.

Are the big F1 teams still using depleted uranium as the ballast weight? They should be banned from making soapbox carts, they're not really entering in the fun of the competition.
