25 years ago i was driving a diesel Vectra, not too bad a car really (relatively speaking), and served it's duties well. It is certainly directly comparable to today's cars.

Are they honestly telling me that my 2017 diesel SUV wil have magically morphed into some autonomous personal transportation pod, that is fuelled by spangle dust, in a similar time frame?
Get real!

Feckem.... I'm going to hold out for my personal jet pack, just like they promised me 50 years ago!

I wonder if electric cars will be powerful enough and have sufficient charge to tow trailers, caravans etc from one of the country to the other, although guess there is always LPG

It's too little too late from a climate change perspective. Also not too well thought out... We need to make sure that the increased energy demand on the national grid is supplied from renewable sources, otherwise we're making little progress.

Next year, Stuttgart - home to Mercedes & Porsche - will ban all diesel vehicles, others will follow, "times they are a changin' ."
