Look at JDM cars, they have a 112mph speed limit applied so it encourages manufactures to put in shorter gears which improves acceleration and makes the car far more enjoyable to drive!

This is not that new, EV accelerations may also in line for a capping for some manufacturers in future.

I was on a project utilizing safety AI with variable limit based on local limits, road risk map, driving quality and weather to reduce insurance as part of the financing package strategy for poorer & younger drivers.

Future could look like a visit to dodgy dan to get acceleration cap & limiter removed.
