OK, so there is some common sense in the minister''s statement. However, the Police will want more and more cameras, so how are we to define an accident "blackspot"? At what level of crash/injury/fatality does a place become a blackspot. This needs defining NOW, before the figures can be manipulated to allow more and more camera installations.

If "well signed" is to truly be part of the equation, that also ought to include the removal of all the signs out there for non-existent cameras

And I'd still love to see a "camera with a cross through it" sign at the end of the camered zone..... fat chance of that though.

Well I think we should all drink fine whiskey (a lot of it ) Then we should piss on the cameras and torch them with our by-product Is this a good idea or what? Well I think so

It's already down to 32% in favour of more cameras. Not far to go ! Unfortunately since I've managed to vote about 3 times all I manage to get now is the results page. Go to www.bbc.co.uk and follow the "News" link. More worrying are some of the comments being made in the "Talking Point" section about whether we should have more speed cameras. It's frightening that there are people out there who want *more* cameras (and hidden ones at that !). I bet they'd change their tune if they ever got done for speeding by one !! However, it seems to be this sort of minority that is winning the day, largely because it's easy to hide behind the argument that anyone who speeds is a potential killer, which rather destroys any rationality they might have in an argument. It reminds me of a radio interview where a teacher (or someone like that) was being given a hard time because they were teaching children how to shoot rifles on a firing range. The interviewer (a woman) claimed that he was equipping them to be killers, to which the teacher replied that she was "equipped" to be a prostitute but that presumeably she wasn't !

I think if you go out of the site and close IE and then go back in it gives you another go. Might need to clear your history and temp files though. I'm up to about 4 or 5 votes

To vote more than once, you need to delete the 'xxxx@newsvote.bbc.co.uk' cookie from your temporary internet files directory. Simon
