It's about time too! Much of Europe's roads have much quieter surfaces are subsiquently much nicer to drive on.

Good news. I think in some areas this has been happening anyway - certainly stretches of the M6 around Birmingham have been resurfaced in the last year or so and the noise level was substantially reduced on these sections.
